When is the best time to go to Merrimu?

The best time to visit Merrimu is during the spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) months, when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities. During spring, the region experiences mild temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This is an ideal time for exploring the Merrimu Reservoir and its surrounding walking trails, as the native wildflowers are in bloom, adding colour to the landscape. It's also a great season for sampling local produce at farm gates, which are often more active during harvest periods. Autumn offers similarly agreeable weather, with temperatures generally between 12°C and 22°C. The cooler, crisp air makes it superb for hiking or cycling through the rolling hills and enjoying the changing colours of the deciduous trees in the nearby Dandenong Ranges. This period is also excellent for wine tasting at local vineyards, as many are busy with the grape harvest and offer special cellar door experiences. While summer (December to February) can be hot, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, it's still a popular time for those who enjoy water activities on the Merrimu Reservoir or prefer warmer weather for outdoor dining.
