1. Iberostar Waves Creta Panorama & Mare

Mylopotamos

"Very good and family friendly experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, overall an excellent stay. The only complaint would be that dinner at 2 of the 4 restaurants felt a little like a conveyor belt where the priority seemed to be getting us fed and out as quickly as possible rather than having us enjoy the dining experience. With that said the experience at the other 2 restaurants was excellent."

"I wouldn’t go to all inclusive to Greece again, maybe just with breakfast included for convenience, because the food outside in the restaurants is muuuch much much better and that’s one of the ways to experience Greece. The quality was ok, but nothing compared to traditional amazing flavours in the restaurants. Also the prices of food in the restaurants is very reasonable, 40-65eur for 2 people you fill your tummies :)"

The staff couldn’t do enough for you and they were so friendly. This was the first time going all inclusive we couldn’t have chosen a better place the food was so nice and so much choice. The hotel was very clean and tidy the grounds were well maintained. We will be staying here again in the future."

Not at all the properties fault but it rained 2 of the 4 days we stayed at this resort. And with everyone needing to be inside, the common area's felt a bit cramped."

"A fantastic hotel with an outstanding team who truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The attention to detail is exceptional, and every aspect of the experience is thoughtfully taken care of. Highly recommended!"

Nautilux Rethymno by Mage Hotels

8/10 Good

"Over all hotel is nice , Everyone working here was nice and kind . Anyhow for 5 star hotel shower enclosure is only 2 stars…. It is no door from living area to the bathroom,so it is crazy cold when you get out from the shower, and enclosure itself is ridiculously uncomfortable, Other thing -guests are allowed to smoke in a balcony,no separation between smoking and nonsmoking rooms,so you will smell disgusting cigarette smoke all day long… Also -5 star hotel does not have heated pool ,so October 12 th pool temperature was 15 degrees Celsius-that is absolutely ridiculous…please invest some money for your pool heating,so guests, who paid for 5 star hotel can enjoy it …"

Grecotel Plaza Beach House

10/10 Excellent

"We booked a room at the last minute. There will a little mix up upon arrival but the hotel upgraded us and bought us dinner to compensate us. Honestly, there was no need. The hotel was fabulous and the staff could not have been friendlier. The beach area was perfect and exactly what we wanted during our time in Greece. Rethymno is a lovely town and not nearly as busy as Chania, which made a huge difference. We would definitely go back to this hotel."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Melidoni?

The best area to stay in Melidoni is the village itself, particularly around the main square and the surrounding streets.

Melidoni village offers a tranquil and authentic Cretan experience, known for its traditional architecture and friendly local community. The centre of the village is the main square, where you'll find a few tavernas serving local dishes and a small shop for essentials. The famous Melidoni Cave, a significant historical site, is just a short drive or a pleasant walk from the village centre.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find Melidoni ideal. It's a wonderful base for enjoying quiet evenings, taking leisurely strolls through olive groves, and experiencing genuine Cretan hospitality away from the bustling tourist resorts.

When is the best time to go to Melidoni?

The best time to visit Melidoni is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and early October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures superb for exploring and enjoying outdoor activities without the peak summer heat and crowds. For those looking for a relaxing escape, these months are ideal. You can enjoy the tranquillity of the village, visit the Melidoni Cave, and explore the surrounding olive groves and countryside at a leisurely pace. Couples particularly appreciate the quieter atmosphere, which is superb for romantic dinners and scenic drives.

Families travelling with younger children might also find these times more comfortable.
