Find hotels in Malpas from CA $59

The best area to stay in Malpas is within the village itself or in one of the surrounding hamlets for an authentic Burgundian experience.

The village of Malpas is quite small, centred around its historic church and a few local establishments. It offers a tranquil setting, great for those looking to unwind and enjoy the slow pace of rural France. You'll find a scattering of guesthouses and a local restaurant or two, providing a genuine taste of the region.

Couples often find the quiet charm of Malpas and its immediate surroundings ideal. It provides a romantic backdrop for exploring the nearby vineyards and enjoying leisurely meals. The lack of major distractions means more quality time together, perhaps with a glass of local wine on a private terrace.

For families seeking a peaceful retreat, staying in a gîte or a larger property just outside the main village offers space and privacy. These accommodations often come with gardens and are well-suited for children to play freely, while parents can relax in a calm environment.

The best time to visit Malpas is during late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these months, the weather is generally mild and agreeable, superb for exploring the vineyards and villages of Bourgogne. You'll find the countryside is at its most picturesque, with lush greenery in spring and the rich colours of the harvest season in autumn. This also avoids the peak summer tourist rush, meaning a more relaxed experience at local attractions and restaurants.

For couples looking for a romantic escape, these shoulder seasons offer a serene setting. You can enjoy wine tastings at local domaines, leisurely walks through historic Malpas, and quiet dinners at charming eateries without the hustle and bustle of peak season. The gentle climate is ideal for cycling along the Canal de Bourgogne or simply relaxing in a scenic spot.

If you're a traveller prioritising outdoor activities like hiking or cycling, late spring is particularly good. The days are long, and the temperatures are comfortable for being active.
