I was staying on business had been working in central london all day and to arrive at Monkey Island was exactly what i needed after a hard day! Its a true hidden gem. Will definatley stay again. It was a hot day and my room was stuffy which didn't really improve after I arrived and I didn't sleep well because of it. To be honest whilst the setting is beautiful the room that i have was old and tired. I had a garden room which looked out onto the laundry bins. When you opened drawers and cupboards the handles fell off. I ordered room service which was ok but I was taken back by the bottle of squeezy ketchup and squeezy mustard that came with my steak - not quite what I had expected. Personally although it wad clean and the staff ok I wouldn't stay again. The room felt small (claustrophic even), dated and I couldn't wait to check out in the morning as a result. They did have wifi but the TV wouold only pick up 2 channels. On the plus side the bed was very comfy. The hotel is in a lovely location and set in attractive grounds. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable with a good view of the river and grounds (including rabbits). Not recommended as I'm sure there are better places to stay.
