Lush landscaping provides serene views from all of the rooms. Skylights create a bright, airy interior in the living room and kitchen. Fireplaces provide an inviting atmosphere in the living room, family room, master bedroom, and outdoor cabana. The newly remodeled, large open kitchen with its expansive Carrera marble island, Wolf stove and Subzero refrigerator provides a delightful gathering space that flows into the living room and dining area. The adjoining family room provides an expansive, but comfortable setting for watching shows, reading in the window seat, or just hanging out. Original paintings are beautifully displayed throughout the entire home. Upstairs is the expansive master suite with a King bed, cozy fireplace, TV, and a spa like marble bathroom. Downstairs provides another master bedroom with its own Carrera marble bathroom King bed, and TV. Two additional bedrooms, (one with a queen the other with two twin beds) and a beautifully designed marble Waterworks bathroom complete the downstairs sleeping areas. All of the bedrooms (and beds) are luxurious, serene, and comfortable. The lushly landscaped backyard provides an amazing setting for outdoor living. A gorgeous pool and spa are surrounded by fountains, a courtyard table for alfresco dining, and a charming cabana with fireplace, outdoor couches, and a large TV which can be watched from the spa. Each evening or night must include a relaxing soak in the delightful spa (complete with foot jets:) which comfortably seats 8\. At nighttime the front and backyards are magical with accent lighting throughout. It is more beautiful than mere photos can depict! Duane communicated so well with us before and during our stay. He is a perfectionist and all was perfectly perfect! The grounds are filled with gorgeous flowers and plants, the pool area is inviting and relaxing, the layout of the home is perfect for 8, and the kitchen, den, and living room are lovely bright and cozy. Gas fireplaces and lovely paintings throughout, a ping pong table, and basketball hoop—what more can you ask for! I highly recommend this home and this host. The attention to detail and warm hospitality were top notch. We hope to return as soon as possible. Everyone in our family loved it, and wished we could stay forever! The San Rafael Home was the perfect place for my husband and I along with our adult children to stay over the New Year's holiday. It is a beautiful home with everything you need to relax and enjoy each other. The beds were all very comfortable and the kitchen includes everything you might want for your stay. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and the cabana. Despite the chilly temperatures, we spent New Year's Eve in the cabana with the fire blazing, playing games and watching the ball drop on the TV. We had family coming in from many places around the country and needed a place that could would be reoomy enough and comfortable enough. Linda and Duane's home couldn't have been more perfect for our stay. With a large beautiful kitchen were able to prepare some delicious dinners, and the pool and hottub were a wonderful respite from the heat of the day. Nicely decorated with tons of conveniences, the home was even better than I had hoped for. Duane and Linda were always accessible and helpful for any questions we had. We had excellent communications back and forth to ensure stay readiness ahead of check in. Directions and a host visit to ensure we were comfortable upon check in were a supreme touch. The San Rafael house is a beautiful home kept in immaculate condition. Landscaping, gardens, lighting and patio/pool/cabana area are gorgeous, inviting and wonderful. Open floor plan on first floor for spreading out and has tons of natural light. So warm & inviting. All Bedrooms and bathrooms perfect all around. Neighborhood is quiet and surrounding areas wonderful for walking, jogging, etc. Lower Arroyo Secco trail is close by for a great walk or jog to the Rose Bowl Stadium and back. We were in town to visit my brother who lives 15 minutes away in Alhambra and to see as many things possible in LA. San Rafael House is super great for access to Pasadena (Santa Anita Race Track 15 mins away), neighboring Highland Park (numerous great restaurants) and a starting point for all LA has to offer (Griffith Park & Planetarium, Zoo, Beverly Hills, Museums - such as Motion Picture/Broad/MOCA, Sony Movie Studio Tour, Art Galleries, Dodger Stadium, Beaches Long Beach/Manhattan/Malibu, Mountains, etc.). Our Family remarked it was the best vacation ever. When returning to the area, securing a stay at San Rafael House will be trip action plan step #1! ##### Blaine R. Jan 17, 2015 #### English Family Christmas Two Week Stay at San Rafael House - Magical! We are a family of four, Mum, Dad, Boy (10), Girl (8) who flew over from London for a two week stay in Pasadena over the 'Holidays' including Christmas Day. In addition my parents (70+) also visited from England for four days. All of our pre-trip communication with the owners was first class and very reassuring. We arrived after a long flight and equally long LA traffic to a very warm welcome. The house was just stunning, beautiful decorations simply enhanced the lovely decor throughout. The charming owners greeted us, took in our bags and showed us around. Nothing was too much trouble. The children immediately took to the pool and so the vacation started! During our stay we found the location to be excellent, easy access to Downtown, Hollywood and of course Pasadena. The home was really a home from home, lovely large and light rooms with very comfortable sofas and chairs. We really enjoyed the (heated) pool and hot tub in December (it was quite novel to swim on Christmas Day!). The layout worked brilliantly for us and the kids, and we were able to celebrate in style. We can't thank the owners enough for all the trouble they went to to make sure our stay was perfect. When it came to leaving (which was hard) the process was simple and straightforward. The owners were great and keeping in touch and keeping us informed. Our deposit was refunded straightaway. We very much hope to return to this property in a few years time.
