Having previously stayed at The Milestone, I was expecting the same level as previous experiences. Sadly, this was not the case. Walking into reception to see two huge displays of dead red roses, summed up our experiences really. The staff were all helpful and polite but over all, a very poor experience. We asked for a twin room, it was not twin but a zip link bed unzipped, so may as well not have bothered? The first night/next morning we had no cold water, the hot water was at thermo nuclear level hot, so we were unable to take a shower/bath. This however was quite quickly sorted, but begs the question, why wasn’t it checked beforehand, as they obviously knew there was an issue to sort it so quickly? The second morning, our friends were woken twice, at 6:00am and 6:30am, by early morning calls from reception. Again, this was dealt with, but shouldn’t have happened. On our last morning, breakfast was a disaster. We ordered, waiting 20 minutes, then everything arrived together - fruit; toast;porridge and full English breakfast! Obviously we sent back the hot items, which were then returned to us later. When I say returned, exactly the same breakfasts were brought out, cold and solid, so we sent them back again. Once again dealt with but all in all, not the kind of things you would expect from a 5* hotel? Our bills were also incorrect at check out, and three tries later, we’re corrected. The hotel, like the dead roses in reception, has seen better days!
