Beautiful second floor unit in building 4 (closest building to the ocean), with an unobstructed view of the ocean. King bed with chaise lounge. Only steps until your feet touch the sand! The Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort and Spa is a beautiful Hawaiian resort located on 25 acres of lush Garden Isle, centrally located between Kauai’s south and north shores, making it perfect for your island adventures. Only minutes from the airport, Costco, Walmart and Shopping. You will go thru a tree canopy lined drive that leads to the resort. Several acres of beach front property to enjoy and explore. On property there are four swimming pools, complete with water falls, a poolside cabana bar and grill, two jacuzzies, fitness center and day spa. Paradise will be your back yard! However, the Hawaiian Cultural classes, which include classes like Hula and Lei Making are not included as part of your stay. \----------------------------------------------------------------- FAQs - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS IS THIS CONDO OR A HOTEL ROOM? Both. The resort was previously a Hilton hotel, the units are just like hotel rooms. However, they are privately owned “condotels”. The resort operates much like a hotel, and most guests are not aware that the units are privately owned. Most of the units are offered to the public through the resort or through travel sites at much higher retail prices. Although, a few are offered on VRBO at owner rates with access to the resort’s amenities. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RENTING ON VRBO vs. THE RESORT The $$$ price and also maid service. Renting direct through VRBO saves you a lot of money. However, daily maid service is not included. The cleaning fee you pay when booking takes care of cleaning and restocking the unit after your stay. DOES THE UNIT HAVE A KITCHEN? No. They do not have kitchens they were previously hotel rooms. ARE WE ABLE TO COOK IN THE UNIT? No. Local fire ordinances do not allow cooking in any of the rooms. The resort has a microwave in the lounge area on the 5th floor of Building 2 that can be used by all guests. WHAT IS THE RESORT’S BEACH LIKE? The resort is located on a 3-mile stretch of beautiful beach, amazing for long walks. The beach is very scenic but, is not considered a swimmable beach as it has a decent amount of coral. The surf is also unpredictable. It's best is to go to some of Kauai's many famous beaches for swimming. Lydgate Beach park is a nearby beach that is good for swimming. SHOULD I GET A CAR? We recommend that you have a rental car. The resort has most everything you need to have a wonderful time and relax. A car will allow you to experience many popular attractions, buying groceries, and going to many amazing restaurants etc. If you want a car for a day or two there is an on-site Hertz car rental agency. The rates are higher but it is an option for a short rental. IS THERE FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE AIRPORT? No. The shuttle service from the airport is not available to our guests. The resort does offer free shuttle service to/from the airport for guests who book through the resort. Kauai Beach Resort is close the airport which make taxi prices more reasonable. Uber also operates on the island! ARE THERE BEACH TOWELS TO TAKE TO THE BEACH? Your stay includes 4 pool/beach towels. DOES THE RESORT CHARGE A RESORT FEE? Private owner guests are not required to pay the $35 daily resort fee. DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A DAILY PARKING FEE? Yes, if you have a car the resort charges $40/day for parking. You do need to figure on renting a car, the negative point for the resort is they charge too much for daily parking at 40/day. The facility is very nice with a choice of 4 pools, 2 jacuzzi's and good restaurants and lounge. The beach is nice for walking long morning walks but not for swimming. We chose this unit because of its spectacular views. It did not disappoint! Looking off the balcony, you can sit and watch the waves and the birds enjoy the open green space. Rental managers were great with communication. The grounds are very well maintained and the staff is very friendly. There is no lack of pool space as there are 4 pools. There is also a concession and bar at the pool plus two onsite restaurants. The location is in between a few main hubs and is never more than an hour car ride to any part of the island. This unit is very private with a nice ocean view, and nicely equipped but more like a hotel room than an apartment. The resort has a lot of pools. We did not eat at any of the resort restaurants. The resort is near the airport and the city of Luhue, and also near the town of Kapaa where there are restaurants and stores. You really need a car to see anything on the island, there is nothing nearby to get to on foot. $35 per night parking fee seems a bit steep, especially seeing nearby ‘villas’ with what seemed like free parking. ##### Ewa K. When compared to other resorts in this area, it is one of the highest rated resorts for the least amount of cost. They do not mention on Expedia that cost for "parking" is extra, like $256 for the week (over $36 per day). Although plenty of parking spaces were available during our stay. Expedia also listed "in room microwave". The only microwave available is located at the 5th floor lobby in the main "Building 2". Like many rentals on the island, it could have used a deep clean (dust, mold, dirty door frames) but overall was very well kept and the linens provided were great. Bed was comfortable and coffee maker fridge was great to have. As stated by the manager, you will need to bring your own coffee filters and supplies. Due to the hard surfaces and airy vibe, you will hear your neighbors and hallway traffic. The overall resort was a bit dated. Hot tub and water dispensers were out of order, but the staff was very friendly. Lunch at the pool bar was good, as were the drinks. We did not eat at any of the other onsite restaurants. The location is great, very close to markets, beaches, food options, etc. making it very convenient and home base on the island. The only downside is the parking fee, as stated in the details. 40 is a bit steep and the parking garage is not close to the main buildings. Lots of maintenance was going on during our stay which increased the noise levels inside and out. Overall a great stay and cozy spot. ##### Charlynn P. Appreciated the availability of the beach chairs, umbrella and cooler that were in the room, definitely a plus! We were there for 5 nights with only two towels per person. Ended up buying beach towels and using the supplied beach towels to shower with. You also do not have access to the resort pool towels. This unit is quite a hike from the parking so be prepared to walk a lot. Not a big deal for us but for some it might be a problem. Not really a swimmable beach at the resort. Resort is a bit dated. Pool furniture could be updated. Pool bar closed early at 6pm.
