Find hotels in Lawers from CA $102

The best area to stay in Lawers is along the shores of Loch Tay, particularly around the village of Lawers itself and nearby Kenmore.

This area is characterised by its stunning natural beauty, with hotels and lodges often boasting direct loch access and views of the surrounding mountains. It's a relatively secluded part of Perthshire, offering a tranquil escape. The main road, the A827, runs parallel to the loch, connecting the various small communities.

Couples seeking a romantic getaway will find this area particularly appealing. Many accommodations offer private hot tubs, log fires, and direct loch access for activities like kayaking or paddleboarding. The emphasis here is on relaxation and enjoying the breathtaking scenery, with opportunities for gentle walks along the lochside or more challenging hikes in the nearby hills.

Families will also appreciate the space and outdoor opportunities available. Many lodges come with self-catering facilities, multiple bedrooms, and gardens, providing a comfortable base for exploring.

The best time to visit Lawers is during the late spring to early autumn months, specifically from May to September, when the weather is generally mildest and the days are longer.

During May and June, you'll experience the Scottish Highlands coming alive with wildflowers, and the daylight hours are extended, allowing for more exploration. This period is ideal for hiking and enjoying the natural beauty of the area, as the midges (small biting insects) are typically less prevalent than in mid-summer.

July and August offer the warmest temperatures, which are great for outdoor activities like walking, fishing, and boating on Loch Tay. While this is peak tourist season, Lawers remains a relatively peaceful destination. Be prepared for the possibility of midges, especially in the evenings or near water, though a good repellent usually keeps them at bay.

September brings stunning autumnal colours to the landscape, creating a beautiful backdrop for walks and photography. The weather can still be pleasant, and the crowds begin to thin out, offering a more tranquil experience.
