"So we booked months in advance because multiple family need room for a celebration of life.....my wife has seriius back issues and after we booked realized we had check in at 3pm, however we landed at 550am. No way cam my wife fly fro Ca, and sit etc around till 3pm. So i called hotel to discuss check in issues I figured get car, get breakfast and drive 2 hour we would be ther about 10am. Hotel manager said they would have staff clean room to be ready by 10am. I was so thankful, the managers response was if i was in your position i would hope someone would accommodate in the same way, that is 5 star plus customer service!!! The room, the staff were great. Come on now endless cookies too ! 2nd night issue at midnight and 230am fire alarm in our room went off like there was a fire so yes i went in emergency mode called desk nobody, ran down nobody, it finally stopped but 230am same thing however i disconnected it this time, still no staff.Reporred to desk at 730am,maintenance addressed issue around 930. Anyways it got repaired, so this was our experience. No sleeped wasnt fun either but im not trying to deduct stars because it was an unexpected maintenance issue. Everything else was great.....expedia took care of us ! We would/ will stay here again if and when we go back"

"Amazing Galena getaway!!! This property has it all on the ranch: soccer, golf, ponds, walking trails, animals, beautiful sunsets, beautiful sunrises, hot tub on the property, access to an amazing pool, and views galore.This was our second stay at the Octagon and Caspien with the studio (22 people). Lots of room for family to spread out, and come together. Big meals together, birthday celebration for our granddaughters, and so much fun and laughter to the wee hours around a campfire. All just a short distance from Galena, IL!!!Mark is great to work with. Very responsive and he really wants all his guests to have the best experience possible!!"

"Your breakfast was not enjoyable. Most places have scrabbled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles. We went and ate somewhere else. For the price of rooms your breakfast should be top notch. "

"My family of 24 people (age ranges 1-70) stayed for one week at this wonderful rural property with pastoral views from an expansive deck. The evenings were serenely quiet and the days were filled with activities. We enjoyed petting Lucas the llama and the horses/donkey as well as viewing the peacocks. The equisitely historic town of Galena is a short drive away with plenty of shopping, eateries and tours. We biked along the Galena biking trail about 7 miles one way to Chestnut Mountain from town. After launching model rockets, Mark graciously helped retrieve one from a tree with his tractor and a pole saw. The children really enjoyed the hot tub and the pool facilities at the Galena Territory Owners Club. Just a fantastic week all around with no problems to mention."

"It’s a dated hotel, no frills no thrills you know it’s one of those things. You just need a roof over your head for the night. There was no bugs or pests. Everything was clean and served its purpose free Wi-Fi. I know it may be hit or miss with other rooms but the room I had this time was really good."
