8/10 Good
"We were disappointed that the air conditioner was broken and we had a few window units. They were noisy and not very efficient. We got the note about the AC almost a month before our stay. Seems like they had time to fix it… We were told there was no pack n play for the toddler that was traveling with us and was sent a link to rent it??? That is one thing that absolutely should be provided by the property. So we stopped on the way from the airport to purchase one which was cheaper than renting one from the link. When we arrived there we found…a pack n play in one of the closets. Nice, but took valuable time both purchasing and returning ours. Frustrating. Great location, close to wonderful beaches, turtles and seals! There was a closet at the property that was SO helpful, it had a cooler, beach chairs and umbrellas, sand toys and goggles. We were very grateful for these and got lots of use out of them."

"This is a good spot for people with children as its an apartment feel and you have everything you need to cook, wash dishes or do laundry. The pool areas are dated but clean as well as the furnishings in the home. If your just a couple there would be more pampering in a hotel setting with out the hidden fees. Cleaning fees and daily amenity fres etc. this shouldve been included in original hotel cost. It was a separate charge for each day you stood there. And we were there several days and they never bothered to at least pick up the trash. Also there is noone 24hours at desk."

Frequently asked questions

How much does a budget hotel in Kekaha cost?
Budget hotel prices in Kekaha vary, but you can find a great deal on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates—typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.
When is the most affordable time to visit Kekaha?
The most affordable time to visit Kekaha is typically during the shoulder seasons, specifically late spring (April to May) and early autumn (September to November), outside of major holidays. During these periods, you'll generally find lower prices for accommodation and flights compared to the peak winter and summer months. For solo travellers, visiting in these quieter months means you can often snag better deals on guesthouses or smaller, locally-run accommodations. The weather is still pleasant, with plenty of sunshine for enjoying the uncrowded beaches and hiking trails without the intense heat of summer or the higher demand of winter. Many activities, such as exploring the Waimea Canyon State Park or relaxing at Polihale State Park, remain free or very low cost, making it ideal for those keeping a close eye on their spending.Furthermore, travelling during these times allows you to experience Kekaha's laid-back charm more authentically, with fewer tourists and more opportunities to engage with local life and culture at a relaxed pace.
Is Kekaha a budget-friendly destination?
While Kekaha and the island of Kauai are generally considered more expensive, travellers can absolutely experience its magic on a budget with some smart planning. For accommodation, consider booking self-catering options like holiday rentals or guesthouses with kitchen facilities, as dining out can quickly add up. Solo travellers might find better value by looking for hostels or shared accommodation in nearby towns like Waimea or even further afield on the island, using Kekaha as a base for day trips.Couples can enjoy many of Kekaha's natural attractions for free. Spend your days relaxing on the beautiful Kekaha Beach, known for its long stretches of sand and stunning sunsets, or exploring the vast Polihale State Park. Driving the scenic Waimea Canyon Drive, often dubbed the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," offers breathtaking views without an entry fee. Picnics with groceries from local supermarkets are a great way to save on food costs, allowing you to enjoy meals amidst incredible natural beauty.
What free activities should we do in Kekaha?
Kekaha, while a smaller destination, offers a surprising array of free activities, particularly for those who appreciate natural beauty and outdoor exploration. Many of these activities are best enjoyed by solo travellers seeking reflection or couples looking for romantic, uncrowded experiences. The most prominent free activity is visiting Polihale State Park. This expansive, remote beach is renowned for its vast stretches of sand and dramatic cliffs, providing breathtaking views of the Nā Pali Coast. It is an ideal spot for sunbathing, beachcombing, and watching the sunset, though swimming can be hazardous due to strong currents. Access to the park requires driving several miles on an unpaved road, which can be rough, so a sturdy vehicle is recommended.Another excellent option is exploring Waimea Canyon State Park, often called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." While the park itself has no entrance fee, there are numerous free scenic lookouts along the Waimea Canyon Drive where you can pull over and admire the panoramic vistas. These viewpoints offer stunning photo opportunities of the canyon's vibrant colours and dramatic geological formations, great for couples wanting to capture memorable moments. Solo travellers will find the quiet grandeur of the canyon incredibly inspiring.Additionally, the Kekaha Beach Park provides a pleasant, accessible spot for a relaxed day by the ocean. It's a great place to simply unwind, watch local surfers, or enjoy a picnic with views of Niʻihau island in the distance.
Is it cheaper to book flights and a hotel in Kekaha as a package?
Booking a hotel and flight package on Expedia can be cheaper than booking flights and hotels separately. Bundling can lead to significant savings, especially for international travel or when booking well in advance. However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it's wise to compare options.
