Wingate by Wyndham South Bend/Notre Dame

10/10 Excellent

"**An Exceptional Stay – Wonderful Hotel, Outstanding Staff, and Beautiful Memories** My stay at the Wingate Hotel in South Bend was absolutely wonderful. Everything was perfect, from the room and the overall comfort of the hotel to the warm, welcoming atmosphere that made me feel so well taken care of throughout my stay. However, what truly made this experience unforgettable was the exceptional staff. I would particularly like to express my gratitude to the gentleman at the reception, who was incredibly kind, helpful, and patient. He went out of his way to help me find my way around and gave me useful advice on where to buy souvenirs for my sons. His thoughtfulness and willingness to help made a real difference, especially as a visitor discovering a new place. The kitchen deserves special recognition, too. It is such a warm, welcoming place, and the food and the atmosphere made every visit a pleasure. I was especially touched by the wonderful woman working there. She is incredibly kind, gentle, gracious, and efficient, managing everything with remarkable skill and calmness. Even while working with a broken shoulder, she showed such dedication, warmth, and professionalism. I was deeply impressed by her strength of character and the care she puts into her work. She seems to keep the entire kitchen running smoothly while making everyone feel welcome. She is truly a remarkable woman, and I hope the hotel knows how fortunate it is to have someone like her on its team. I also l"

Blue Gate Garden Inn

8/10 Good

"My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The property, offerings and rooms were exceptional The one item that caused me to give a 4 star rating instead of 5 was the breakfast offering. There was an omelette station available, but only 1 person was assigned to it. She took each order, cooked the item ordered and than anno7nce theorderers name over a microphone. She also had to answer questions from people wanting to know where their order was. I think things would have gone more smoothly had she been allowed to cook and an additional person taking the orders and do8ng theannouncing. We gave our orders at 9:00 AM, and the order was still not ready at 9:45. There was also only 1 person refilling the buffet bins with food. At 9:30 we decided to get our breakfast from the buffet hoping that our omelettes would be done by the time we had our other items. There was only an almost empty bin of scrambled eggs and the only meat offered were sausage links. No potatoes. There were 2 sides of the buffet and one was closed. It was very busy. We also prepared some toast. The eggs and sausage were not ho, lukewarm at best. If a health inspecter did a temp check on those items, the property would have been cited for not maintaining a proper storage temperature. Our omelettes never arrived. The next day we opted out of the breakfast and went to a local restaurant instead. But overall there is a lot to like about staying here, especially being next the theater and close to all in town locations."
