Close to the church is the Glen, a traditional cottage, that has been modernised over the years, but still retains a great deal of charm and quirkiness.You are at to the centre of the village. Tranquility prevails broken only by the sound of the church clock striking, or ringing a peel on a Sunday morning, or birds singing in the garden, or bathing in the pond. The ground floor at The Glen comprises a sun room dining area, a country kitchen with gas Aga and walk in pantry, and a character filled sitting room with feature beams and wood burning stove. Also on this floor is the spacious and stylish wet room. Open what appears to be a cupboard door, to find the stairs which may be challenging if you have a disability or are notably infirm on your feet.Onthe first floor you will find one double and two single bedrooms, one with bunk beds, the other with useful built in storage and wardrobe space. Outside offers a patio area with steps up to the forecourt with a generousparking space. These steps - see the picture may prove challenging for the elderly or infirm. For nature enthusiasts, our village is a gateway to breathtaking landscapes. Lace up your hiking boots and embark on scenic walks across the rolling hills of Dartmoor National Park, located just a stone's throw away. Lose yourself in the natural wonders of ancient woodlands, dramatic tors, and cascading waterfalls! History buffs will be delighted by the rich heritage that Ugborough holds. Take a leisurely stroll to discover the picturesque St. Peter's Church, a hidden gem boasting fascinating medieval architecture and a peaceful atmosphere. Across the village square, in easy walking distance you will find two traditional village pubs both renowned for good food from local produce, and good hospitality. Easy to find, and can imagine it very cosy in the winter with the log burner on. Beds are very soft and comfy to sleep on. Overall a very pleasant stay. Things to note: With the aga I wouldn’t want to be there on a very hot summers day, as we were there on a 18-20 degrees day and it was rather hot. But on communicating with the owner he told me where to turn it down which did help. But the aga does work in the type of place it is, adds to its character. The toilet leaked, but I didn’t get a response about this. Be warned about the church bells going every hour, all through the night.we wondered what the ear plugs in the pantry were for! The place was really cozy and was exactly what we needed. John was really helpful and responded very quickly to any questions we had. Only comment I would add is that there is no freezer in the property. Ich empfehle nur einfache Gerichte zu kochen. Gute Betten und wunderbare Stille im Ort garantieren erholsamen Schlaf .
