Not good!!
This hotel is not good very dirty and i booked an smoking room but they said it's forbidden and the 1 staff is quite stupid no towel in the room then i ask he gave 1 only but she knows we are 2 in the room! Its not recommendable hotel i stayed allot different hotels different countries but this is the worse ever!!!

I found the staff very helpful and the room was very good But what I found was the INTERNET very slow good INTERNET is a must these days , I hope if the staff reads This review that the will do something about the INTERNET really that would great to boost it UP , YES THE HOTEL IS VERY CENTRAL TO THE OLD TOWN AND THE FAMOUS GRAND BUZAAR , A MUST SEE IT ,,,

not worth your money to stay here
first i booked room with double bed. a month in advance gave us a room with 3 single beds wouold not change it. very little if any hot water heat wouldnt work half the time. black mold in the bath tub shower walls. poor service not friendly cancelled my return stay at this hotel can not return to these conditions. sorry great area about the only good thing to say.

I'm still there, I didn't get the room that I paid for . They denied me my original room and gave me beside the Engine room,which couldn't allow me and my wife to sleep or have peace . They denied us free bottles water,cafe/tea machine and no changing of our bedsheets etc.

Hello , Thank you for your staying at our hotel , But you made a reservation economy room it means "CHEAPEST" room , we inform you about standart room but you didnt want it. There is no free bottle os water , and also we have room service everyday , Regards , Mehmet

Slightly disappointed
Although we got a good price for our rooms and the fact that it is winter, I was disappointed that what was advertised was not available. There was no tea & coffee making facilities in the room, no mini bar and not free bottles of water.

Hotel.com needs to inspect hotels rooms
It was worst expirence. A room in basement with no window ..sticky smell and starting of water motor after every two hour with loud noise .. when asked to change the room it was not done. They said their hotel is under repair.. they then sent me to another hotel which was even more pathetic.. finally they said thatthey can cancel the booking if Iam not happy .. it was difficult to find a replacement on short notice and they knew it ..

Staff at reception are lier. Sent them emails thricely for refund but still no reply. Our rooms were confirmed but denied to check in due to maintenance problem. Gave us refund letter in Turkish language so visitors from other country cannot understand that what's return. Told us that we are unable to give you rooms and keep this letter for proof of refund and now saying that guests cancelled their own. We supposed to check in on 23rd Jul with family after taking long flight and too much tired and hotel roof was leaking with water. Staff not even bothered to compensate in any other hotel and now not refunding our amount. I'll suggest all visitors that not to stay in this hotel. Non cooperative and un trustable staff.

This hotel is your choice only if you're on the budget. It is cheapest around. For one night, but not for relax and enjoying good time. Hotel is attracting travelers mostly from Middle East. They are refused to obey hotel rules and often smoking inside of the room and you may feel that smell. Sound proofing is nonexistent.

Terrible hotel, awful staff
This hotel is terrible. We booked a room in SANTA SOPHIA but ended up in another one! When we arrived at Hotel Santa Sophia, they took our passports to start the check-in procedure. After waiting 15-20 minutes, they tell us that they will take us to another hotel because “their rooms are flooded with water due to a piping issue”. First of all, this is extremely unprofessional. They should have told us about this BEFORE they took the passports and checked us in. They kept it from us instead. Second, the staff was rude. They talked as if we don’t have the right to complain or to ask about anything, as if what they did and how they did it was completely acceptable. They sent us to a hotel that was technically in the middle of nowhere, and they wanted to put us in a room with no windows, no toiletries, no towels. They gave us a very hard time because we booked the Economy Room. They said “if you only pay money for the Economy Room, this is what you get and it’s clear on the room description”. I pulled out my phone and showed them the Expedia reservation details and insisted that they did NOT mention that their will be no windows or toiletries or towels. They changed the subject in order not to admit that they scam people. We had a terrible experience. It was our 4th time in Istanbul, specifically in the Sultahahmet area, and all hotels we previously stayed at were amazing. This one was a huge disappointment, we do not recommend it to anyone.

I DONT RECOMMEND TO ANY BODY.
I booked the room for 3 days but i am not happy with this hotel . Tv is not working , shower is very small and not clean, Room has no sound proof , I can hear the people in next room talking. Bed should be for 2 people but it was not. Bed was to small, Quilt was for i person. Water in shower getting cold in a few minutes.OVER ALL I DID NOT LIKE IT . END I DONT RECOMMEND TO ANY BODY.

Wifi in the room was so bad. We had to sit in the lobby area to send holiday pics back home. Workers were doing repair works, including drilling walls right outside our room door till 7pm. Our room was next to the tiny lift lobby, and noisy guests waiting for the lift disrupted our peace especially late at night. Make sure you don't get rooms close to the lift lobby. The hotel location was excellent though. Within walking distance to tram stations, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, the Grand Bazaar, etc.

don't stay here
We did not enjoy our stay here. we booked with expedia with a breakfast but when we got there they said breakfast wasn't included even though we showed them the voucher. They then said we were paying too low anyway and they would refund us and we would have to stay somewhere else. After some convincing, the manager 'agreed' to let us have the room. When we got to the room, it was so small and did not have a window! we felt suffocated and after 2 days of struggling we ended up paying more to have another room with a window. There were a lot of other issues such as drilling sounds throughout the night, staff coming in any time to install ait conditioners without any prior warning and where we would come back to all our things being moved. We had no wifi for the duration of our stay, no heating (they said they had switched it off as they are installing air conditioners) and to top it all we had no duvets - they said they had sent them off for cleaning. I spent my night shivering due to the cold. The hotel is cheap but really not worth it as it can ruin your trip.

First time stay at Hotel Santa Sophia
First of all there is very limited access for the car to reach front of the hotel. Front road of the hotel is closed from 13:00-18:00 but it's open on public holiday. Hotel staff and ourselves had to drag the luggage to the hotel. Room was small but one big bed, one small bed and one sofa bed was abailable to fit four of us. Aircondiotner needs servicing and also rooms need detailed cleaning as we could feel that because of the high season they don't have enough time for deep cleaning. The hotel is situated in the heart of all the all the great attractions that's a plus point. Tram is two minutes walk and also there was a small grocery shop in front for all the needs

The staff except for one of them were not friendly, they refused to give me the room in which I reserved online claiming that it is out or service. Instead, they give me more expensive room however they gave it to me with a discounted price. There was no free bottled water available unlike what was written in the hotels.com room description. The hotel's room was good, clean and comfortable however the mini-fridge in the room was out of service. the location is relatively good but you need to be prepared for some waking.

We did not enjor our time here at the hotel because the hotel had numerous problems including: glass door broke as we were closing it and had given a family member a few cuts, the wifi was bad, and electricity and water had stopped working, and the last problem was that the same key was able to open multiple doors throughout the hotel.
