"The apartment was very clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and the owners have thought of every last detail to make the stay absolutely perfect. We had one double room and the bathroom and our Mum had the other double bedroom with ensuite. She has mobility issues and can get into a shower cubical but not a bath with overhead shower so it made it great for her. "We had a lovely few days in Walled Garden Mews 10 in Melfort Holiday Village. It was well thought-out and so comfortably slept four adults and two children on the sofa bed on the mezzanine. There was plenty of storage and the kitchen was one of the best equipped I've come across in a holiday let. The facilities were great; the children were able to run free and enjoy the games rooms and the swings that were just next door/outside and we all loved going to the pool, which was beautifully warm....

"Everything was fine, and the location around the hotel was good. However, the main issue was that the toilet was shared between 4 to 5 rooms and was located outside the rooms, which was inconvenient. The hotel may be more suitable for younger people, as it has five floors and only stairs, making it quite difficult to go up and down, especially for families or older guests. Overall, the stay was okay, but these points are worth considering before booking."

"This obviously would have been a very grand hotel in its heyday. It's no longer grand but still rather wonderful - high ceilings and huge windows with sea-views. Unpretentious and perfect if you're travelling with kids/dogs/any animal that you might normally worry could do harm/cause annoyance - no need to worry about that here. Traditional breakfast is rather excellent and there are bean-to-cup coffee machines with unlimited refill/return."

"An excellent 'bar pension', centrally located easy walking distance from the rail station and ferry terminal. The rooms are very stylishly decorated but compact, so good for a short stay. The ensuite was cleverly designed to fit hand basin, shower and toilet into a small space. Bed comfortable and nice towels and herbal hand / shower wash. TV working with UK free to air channels. Good Wi-fi and tea kettle and china mugs. Good food in the whisky bar and live music too on the night I was there, though I'd suggest they switch off some of the harsh halogen lights to create a cosier ambience and encourage you to linger longer! The room window was also locked and I suggest the owner unlocks them so that guests can ventilate with the fresh West Highland air if they wish... No socket in ensuite. Officially nowhere to store luggage after the early checkout time but staff let me leave a suitcase in the bar and keep the outside key until midday, which was welcome. Recommended"

"We enjoyed our stay VERY much and were so delighted to be greeted and treated so warmly…including a surprise upgrade to a delightful sea view room upon our arrival! The hotel is very easy to find, has ample free parking on site, and the cafe/bar is so cozy…filled with delightful, historic artifacts. The hotel is an older slightly creaky historic building, though it’s been fully updated and the entire hotel was nicely appointed and squeaky clean. Our room was quite small, and we needed to navigate several assorted fire doors and narrow stairs, so my slightly lower rating on a couple of points is intended to just show that, not bash the property or criticize the service we received in any way. Our bed was very comfy and the hotel location surprisingly quiet, so we slept wonderfully. Breakfast service was top notch, perfect start to the day, and our lunch/dinner was excellent: kudos to the cook, for sure. We enjoyed our stay very much and recommend Oyster Inn highly."
