Top Craignure Hotel Reviews

Corran House Guest House

10/10 Excellent

"Really great stay. For the price I was not expecting the cleanliness and comfort of the room. Staff were lovely and will make this a regular stay when I'm Oban"

Knipoch House Hotel by Oban

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel was 5 star the staff were excellent and polite. Parking was convenient and easy. There was comfortable beds rooms were fantastic and had everything we needed. The views were spectacular this was a very pleasant country house hotel offering a great and unique stay. The only downside side was the lack of variety in the choice of meals in the restaurant."

The Scot

8/10 Good

"Hotel was very nicely laid out and staff friendly. Onsite parking provided, at a cost of £10 per day. It would have been nice if this was made clear at time of booking. Problem with TV. I had to fully reset and retune to enable it to operate. Reception staff did try, but were too busy (and probably under staffed) to spend time fixing. Suggest this is part of check list for hotel prior to new guests. Wi-Fi not the best managed to get 2 bars at best. Room noisy in morning as hotel is on busy road entering Oban. Tip would be request room at rear of hotel. We did not have breakfast as Oban has an abundance of cafes, and we have limited appetites in the morning."

Oyster Inn

10/10 Excellent

"A beautifully situated hotel right on the front overlooking the Connel Bridge and adjacent to a wonderful pub with great food! Our rooms were all clean and comfortable and I must thank the receptionist who very kindly upgraded my elderly mum and put her into a ground floor room overlooking the water for no extra cost, really appreciated this lovely gesture! We will definitely be back!"

Perle Oban Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Perle Oban Hotel & Spa! The location is perfect, right in the heart of town and within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and pubs. We especially loved watching the fishing boats and ferries coming and going in the harbor. Our room was very comfortable, and the hotel was a wonderful home base for exploring Oban. We would happily stay here again!"

Muthu Alexandra Hotel

8/10 Good

"Room was good but could have done with some place to hang wet coats and a safe preferably big enough for a laptop. Staff were pleasant and helpful Breakfast was plentiful, hot and tasty. Personally I would have preferred either bigger cups or a teapot but that’s my personal preference. Parking was limited. We parked in front of the hotel but didn’t use our car for the whole time we were there, so don’t know if there was any other parking places available. Altogether a nice place with excellent views over the bay."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Craignure?

The best area to stay in Craignure is the village centre itself, particularly around the ferry terminal and along the A849.

This compact village serves as the main gateway to the Isle of Mull, with the ferry terminal being a central landmark. Most of the village's amenities, including shops, eateries, and accommodation, are conveniently located within a short walk of the ferry. The A849 road runs directly through the village, making it easy to navigate.

For couples looking for a convenient and relaxing stay, the hotels and guesthouses near the ferry terminal are an excellent choice. They offer easy access to arriving and departing ferries, often boast views across the Sound of Mull, and provide a comfortable base for exploring the island. It's a great spot for those who appreciate immediate access to transport links and a peaceful setting.

Solo travellers will also find the village centre appealing due to its practicality. Being close to the ferry means you can easily connect with bus services that traverse the island, making day trips straightforward.

When is the best time to go to Craignure?

The best time to visit Craignure is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is generally mildest and daylight hours are longest.

May and June offer pleasant temperatures and fewer midges, making them ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the island. The landscape is lush and green, and the days are long, allowing for extended sightseeing. This period is particularly good for couples looking for a tranquil escape with opportunities for scenic walks and wildlife spotting.

July and August are the warmest months, superb for enjoying the beaches and coastal activities. While it's generally busier, the longer daylight hours mean you can make the most of your time on Mull. Families often find these months best for their holidays, as the warmer weather is more suitable for children and there are more organised activities available.

September is also an excellent choice, offering a quieter experience with cooler temperatures but still plenty of daylight. The autumn colours begin to emerge, making for stunning scenery.
