"This Inn has been purchased by the current owners about a year ago. They have undertaken extensive remodeling of the room. The room I was in was a suite, freshly painted, new vinyl floors, new linens, remodeled bath with quartz walls in the full bath. The bed was comfortable, room was quiet. The room had a king bed, full couch, sitting chair, and writing desk and chair. The management was extremely friendly and checked me in quickly. Now the negative. It is obvious that the management has concentrated on improving the rooms. I saw staff cleaning the property and attending to rooms. However, they have not had the time or resources to spend a lot of time on the outside. There is obvious rust and decay on the steel frames for the upper walkways. They will need to be cleaned, treated with rust reformer, and painted. The parking lot needs to be patched. And the program owner had sealed the outdoor pool with concrete. All in all, I will definitely stay here again. While the rooms show signs of some aging, they are freshly painted and immaculately clean. That tells you everything you need to know about these owners and their commitment to your stay."

"Property was nice - we really enjoyed the back porch! You are in the country - we saw a few skunks wandering around as we drove in, but they didn’t bother us. The house met the description and fitted our needs well! The kitchen was fairly basic, but it did have most things we needed. The only thing lacking was hot pads - this might be nice to add."

"We loved our stay at the country house in Herod. The house was beautiful and more than big enough for the five of us who stayed there. The beds were all vey comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything that we needed. The land that the property is on is absolutely gorgeous. We loved sitting on the back porch watching and listening to all the wildlife."

"This was the perfect home base for our family while visiting Garden of the Gods and the Shawnee National Forest. Everything was exactly has stated and shown in photos - just even larger than expected! The home was wonderful, and we appreciated everything provided including coffee and firewood for the firepit! "I gave 5 stars across the board even for cleanliness, keep in mind this is a secluded cabin in the woods. I've seen other reviews... nature will do it's own thing. The location is amazing for venturing out to Garden of the God's. We got to enjoy seeing deer while sitting on the front porch in the morning. Full of beauty and serenity."

Unique 1970s Round House w/ Hot Tub

"Our family really loved the house and property. It was an excellent basecamp for surrounding hiking excursions. The property itself with the open floor plan, prairie trail, pond and fire pit really let us melt away hours in the evening as our legs recovered from hiking. The house a great feeling of privacy and safety so the kids could run around outside and quiet prairie walks could recharge the mind. The house itself had modern amenities, and was easy to manage. Cellular service isnt great in the region so we made sure to plan our travel routes ahead of time using the wifi in the house and download offline as there are lots of roads with twists and turns. Not having cell service was actually something we embraced as a freeing constraint... unplugged from the wider world as we stepped outside of the house Internet. We stopped in Harrisburg to get groceries on the way in as there are no well stocked closer options I obvious. The garden of the gods outpost has several small things if you forgot something basic. Really appreciated all the thoughtful small things, local soaps in bathroom, bags set, chairs outside, lots of towels, check in texts...We would love to come back some day. Everyone loved it."
