Top Gyulakeszi Hotel Reviews

Mövenpick Balaland Resort Lake Balaton

Mövenpick Balaland Resort Lake Balaton

8/10 Good
"Excellent room and facilities. Room and certain other areas such as softplay, could have been cleaner, with dust build up around edges. Some of the hotel seemed a bit disorganised. Booked a takeaway breakfast for an early flight home, and the employee at the front desk claimed that this was not possible. Kitchen staff acknowledged that it had been ordered, but when to check if it was finished and never came back. Kids club activities didn't run to schedule. Pool opening times seemed to change each day. Overall a brilliant hotel for kids, just needs some more attention to detail to be truely amazing."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Gyulakeszi?
The best area to stay in Gyulakeszi itself is typically around the village centre, particularly close to Kotsy Water Mill and the local vineyards.

This area offers a peaceful setting for those looking to experience rural Hungarian life. The Kotsy Water Mill is a top landmark, and the surrounding streets are lined with traditional homes and guesthouses. It's a quiet area, superb for unwinding and enjoying the natural beauty of the region, including views of Csobánc Hill.

Couples seeking a tranquil escape often find this area ideal. You're within easy reach of local wine cellars for tastings and can enjoy walks through the vineyards. The focus here is on relaxation and experiencing the local culture and gastronomy.

For those who prefer a slightly more central base with easy access to a wider range of dining and shopping options, staying in the nearby town of Tapolca, just a short drive away, is a good alternative.
When is the best time to go to Gyulakeszi?
The best time to visit Gyulakeszi is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures that are ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region and visiting local attractions without the intense heat of summer or the chill of winter. You'll find the countryside lush and green in spring, and adorned with beautiful colours in autumn, making for picturesque walks and drives.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, these shoulder seasons provide a more tranquil experience. You can enjoy wine tastings at local vineyards, explore the nearby Káli Basin, or take a leisurely stroll through the Gyulakeszi Lavender Field without the larger crowds that summer might bring. The milder weather is great for enjoying outdoor dining and the scenic views from the surrounding hills.

Families will also appreciate the comfortable temperatures, allowing for enjoyable days out exploring the Castle of Csobánc or the nearby Lake Balaton without the challenge of very hot weather or the need for heavy winter clothing.
