    Exploring Budapest

There is no question that the capital city of Budapest is a special destination, and the millions of visitors each year confirm that fact. Built along the banks of the Danube River, Budapest boasts breathtaking architecture, impressive natural scenery, numerous UNESCO designated World Heritage Sites, and vibrant cultural attractions. Travellers won't want to miss the Royal Palace, the Historical Museum of Budapest, the Chain Bridge, and St. Stephen's Basilica. Thanks to discount rooms and many regular visitors, it is also possible to find many affordable Hungary hotel packages in the capital city.

    History in Eger

Although far fewer travellers venture to Eger than Budapest, it is an incredible destination for those who are interested in history. The highlight of the city is the ancient castle known as Egri Vár. Even though visitors won't be able to stay overnight in the structure, they can feel right at home thanks to affordable Hungary hotel deals in Eger. The city is also famed for its minaret, its fabulous red wines, and its camera obscura in the Lyceum Building.

    Caves of Aggtelek

This small village is located close to the border of Hungary and Slovakia, but it is popular due to its impressive cave system underground. There are stalactites hanging from the ceilings, and guided tours can be a wonderful way to better understand the formation and history of these caves. Plus, Aggtelek is home to some of the cheapest hotels in Hungary. Traveller will want to make reservations to get the best rates and secure a cheap Hungary hotel deal.

    Culture in Debrecen

This may be the second-largest city in Hungary, but it is a top choice for culture in the country. It is home to an impressive university campus, several museums, and some truly beautiful churches. In the summer, a flower carnival brings in travellers from around the world.

To make the most of a trip to Hungary without blowing a budget, book in advance. Welcoming Hungary hotels are found in cities like Debrecen and Budapest as well as smaller towns like Aggtelek.

    Corinthia Hotel Budapest

Erzsebet krt 43-49, Budapest - Map
This is a great hotel. We booked an executive room which included the lounge - definitely worth the extra. We were allowed to eat breakfast in the main dining room which had a better choice than the executive lounge. Spa was lovely although they wouldn't let us use it after checking out which is unusual in my experience. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. In all it is highly recomended.

"Great hotel positioned ideally for tourists"
We enjoyed 3 nights at the Kempinski. Located at the hub of all 3 main metro lines and adjacent to both the Jewish district and the river, it was the ideal place from which to explore. Staff were helpful, knowledgeable and the room was clean and comfortable. The nightly turn down service is a nice touch also.

    Mercure Budapest City Center Hotel

Váci utca 20, Budapest - Map
    "Nice hotel, great location"
The Mercure City Centre is in the perfect location (don't confuse with the Mercure Korona nearby) right on Vaci utica (walking street) in downtown Budapest. It's not a luxury hotel, but if you want to pay a more reasonable price, it is very good. The lobby and bar look very new and sleek. There are computer terminals you can use and you can print out boarding passes (or other things) at the bar. My room was also very nice. The carpet in the room looked new and it was clean and had a nice bathroom. There is a safe and a mini bar in the room (and a nice looking TV which I never used). The walls were a little banged up, so I think perhaps they hadn't got to that point in the updating yet. The carpet in the hallway on my floor was old and stained, however, that's likely the least important thing to update. The staff were all very helpful and gave accurate information, such as how to get to the airport and the approximate costs of various methods. When I decided to take a taxi, they arranged for a legitimate one with a meter (I lived in Hungary in the past and taxis were notoriously dishonest then. Not sure if it's improved overall, but the one the hotel arranged to take me to the airport was great and even cost slightly less than the hotel estimated.) The only complaint I have is the free wifi was not very strong in my room and during certain times of day, I had to go down to the lobby/bar to use my devices.
