The Garrison Historic Area is unique for its historical significance, but for a similar blend of cultural interest, convenience, and access to amenities, Hastings and Worthing are excellent alternatives.
Hastings, immediately east of the Garrison Historic Area along the coast, offers a comparable experience with its own distinct character. This area is well-known for its beautiful beaches, such as Accra Beach, and its lively boardwalk, which is great for evening strolls. It's home to a good selection of restaurants, from casual eateries to more formal dining options, as well as shops and supermarkets, making it very convenient for longer stays. Hastings also provides easy access to public transport along the main coastal road.
Couples often appreciate Hastings for its balance of relaxation and activity. You can spend your days on the beach, enjoy water sports, or explore the local craft markets. In the evenings, there are plenty of places for a romantic dinner or a relaxed drink, all within a pleasant walking distance.
Worthing, a little further east from Hastings, continues the stretch of beautiful coastline and offers a slightly more residential feel while still being very well-equipped for visitors. It boasts lovely stretches of beach, like Worthing Beach, and has a good array of local businesses, including cafes and small shops. It's generally a more relaxed area than Hastings but still offers excellent connectivity to other parts of the island.
For families, Worthing can be an ideal choice. The beaches here are generally calm and suitable for children, and there are several family-friendly dining options.
