Feel your blood pressure drop as you cross the Causeway and know you are only 20 minutes from settling into your wonderful vacation home. Located in the exclusive Pirates Beach community of Galveston, Texas, you’ll find all the amenities you need at this bright and lovely home called Coconut Villa where my home is your home. Two bedrooms and one bathroom downstairs sleep four. The front bedroom offers a queen bed and a dresser housing a TV inside. The back bedroom offers a double bed, located at the end of the hall next to a full size laundry room. The master suite is upstairs with a 4-poster queen bed, an armoire, another TV and a large bathroom. All beds are extremely comfortable, featuring memory foam mattress toppers with quality bedding and down/feather pillows. The daybed in the living room is also very comfortable with available bedding to sleep one, so the total number this home sleeps is seven. Perfect for families or friends gathering for some beach time. A large deck offers plenty of room to enjoy the coastal breezes with a peak-a-boo ocean view. There is a propane grill, dining table for al fresco meals, as well as a pair of chaise lounges for your enjoyment. From sunbathing in the day to cooking out in the evening to incredible stargazing at night, you’ll find yourself out there a lot! The large fenced yard is lushly landscaped with roses and tropical bushes and there is an outdoor shower head below with hot and cold water for rinsing off when you return from the beach. Vacant lots on either side of this very large lot offer more privacy than usual. Back inside, the living, dining and kitchen areas are all spacious and flow together with lots of windows, plenty of light and hardwood floors throughout. A large kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a delicious meal and set a fabulous table! This home was NOT set up as a rental so there are very nice and plentiful pots and pans, cooking utensils, dishes and glasses. I have cooked and hosted many holiday meals and dinner parties here. The china cabinet is filled with beautiful stemware for your adult beverage enjoyment. The dining room table can seat up to 8 with comfortable banana leaf chairs should you want to linger. And if you choose to go out, you’ll have my recommendations for the best places in Galveston for brunch, happy hour and dinner from my 15+ years on the Island! The armoire in the living room houses a large TV with DirectTV Stream for your entertainment as well as a selection of board games. Turn over the top of the end table next to the sofa and you’ll find a lovely backgammon board. And for all your electronic devices, high-speed wireless internet will keep you well connected. At the other end of the spectrum, ceiling fans in every room allow you to open the screened windows in spring and fall and enjoy nature’s sounds and breezes. I allow small pets on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee. Golf carts, surf and paddle boards, kayaks and canoes can all be rented by the day, weekend or week and delivered right to the home. This home is best suited for 6 adults or two couples with a few children as there are no bunk beds. The maximum number of guest is seven. And a wonderful part of Galveston! Just need to know the beach isn’t an easy walk because of the small drainage ditch that runs the width of the neighborhood. Mary Ann is the most accommodating host ever. Her home is very comfortable and she has equipped the kitchen with everything you could ever need. The two decks are nicely furnished—perfect for enjoying the breezes and cooking on the new, top notch, gas grill. The backyard is well maintained and completely fenced which was a big draw for us with our dogs and much appreciated. We rented a golf cart that was delivered to the home when we arrived making our daily trips to the beach super easy and enjoyable. It is fully stocked with spices, dishes, soaps, shampoo, lotions, beach towels, beach shoes, and just about anything else you can think of. Some of the furnishings has an older, antique type feel to them. Some of the furniture was a bit wobbly (end table and a bar stool). The home swayed a bit at times either due to wind or people moving around. Not sure if that is normal in a beach home on stilts as this is our first time staying in one. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because of the location. While it may only be a 5 minute walk, it's not ideal access. One thing to note about pet-friendly... In all of the years I have stayed in VRBO's, Coconut Villa, hands down, was the most fully stocked home I have had the pleasure of staying in. Although not on the beach, the location was perfect and off the main street to Pirate's beach which was nice. You could still enjoy the ocean breeze and hear the crashing of the waves at night. The home is very inviting and comfortable and Mary Ann's extra's were a welcomed treat and the beds were most comfortable too! Being a newbie to the Galveston beach scene in summer, I didn't rent a golf cart early enough and the few places I called were sold out. As an added bonus, Mary Ann went above and beyond to facilitate a golf cart rental for us which turned out be be a better deal than the more advertised places!! Although you can walk to the beach, the golf cart rental is recommended - makes it easy to dash back home for anything you may have forgotten and easier to carry chairs and beach toys. This home is pet friendly too which was of utmost importance to me. Great yard and hose down stairs to rinse off your pets after the beach before coming up to the fabulous deck (there's even a shower for us with HOT water!!) We had a wonderful time at the property. It is so accommodating. The place is very clean. The kitchen is the best stocked kitchen we have ever used. We cooked every night and it lacked for nothing. Lots of nice little extras all over the house. Beach equipment, sunscreen, beach towels, wonderful toiletries, flip flops, bug spray, so many nice touches! The beds are so comfy and the AC keeps the house very comfortable. Beautiful deck with a nice grill. Great neighborhood. Wonderful location. There was plenty of room and the outside deck is wonderful for relaxation. Our small dog enjoyed the space and there is a gate to keep everyone safe at the top of the stairs. The house was immaculate and the kitchen very well stocked. It’s a very quiet location and furnished beautifully. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
