This is a great property but it does have a bit of a old smell to it. It only in the hallways but it's noticinle. The rooms are charming and nice and the style of the hotel is one of a kind. Great place for a getaway, staycation, or events. It's in a good location too.

I have a soft spot for historic hotels & Grand Galvez is the oldest resort on Seawall Blvd. It's always been an upscale destination, but the 2022 remodel took it to another level. Very well done. My favorite is the tile mosiac just beyond the front entrance. If you want to know more about the property, ask Melissa, who runs the gift shop. She's worked there for 11 yrs. We had massages at the Spa, ate at the restaurant 2 times, enjoyed a drink at the bar & did room service once. Also used the valet service. Very helpful & friendly. They not only park cars, they also act as bell hops. So keep that in mind if you think the daily valet parking fee is high.

The water delivery system in the bathroom for the shower was a nightmare. Hard to figure out and no instructions were provided. Hand held device was mounted on the side of the unit, rather than having a mount on the front so you could stand under the water...had to hold in your hand the whole time or mount it back on the side of the unit.

A beautiful old hotel and the food and staff were excellent. The surrounding area is a little downtrodden. It's expensive for what it is.

The atmosphere was amazing, the bar had a fun vibe and the female bartenders were amazing best drink we’ve ever had!! The spa is one of the most awesome things, we booked a couple massage that wasn’t only the most relaxing feeling you will have at any high end spa!

The lounge chairs around the pool need to be cleaned. There was sooooo much bird poop on them, and a lot of the cushions were just old and crusty looking

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. Our room was well appointed and the bathroom was almost spa-like. It was a great location to walk across the street straight to the beach and then down the road to plenty of shopping and dining options. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Grand Galvez. The hotel is impeccable. I love the original vintage architecture, it's welcoming wit a rich history. The staff is plesant, professional and very helpful. My room was very clean with clean linen and a very nice bed. The staff goes above and beyond to make make me feel welcomed and at home Highly reccomended if you're visiting Galveston .

For being a high end hotel the room was not put together well. Understood that it is an “older” property, but little things like the towels not being straight and the fridge not fitting in the area for it make the difference when staying.

The renovations are finally complete! We stayed a few times while everything was in process and this trip got the see the final results. The room is much more upscale and the bathroom has been nicely updated. Really like the downstairs bar, coffee bar and little hotel shop. Love the beautiful carpet and fabric on the walls! The original woodwork is stunning. Looking forward to our next trip back.

Great stay and love the Hotel. Rooms are very small and so much for “ocean view “ the ocean is not even remotely close , The windows are screwed shut so no fresh air breeze . I expect more for my money .The Hotel has been renovated and has neat history . Honestly it’s overpriced for the small rooms .Restaurant was delicious and Valet was attentive. Not RESORT VIBES

We stayed here for Galveston Mardi Gras weekend. The hotel interior is amazing after remodel. And our room was great. However, the staff was a disappointment. In general, they seemed understaffed and undertrained. Checkin was a mess and disorganized, the valet and bellhop situation was chaos, and even the waiters were not very kind or attentive. Maybe it was a hectic weekend, but was pretty much across the board and lessened the experience.
