The apartment is 71 m2 and consists of two bedrooms with queen-sized beds (1,60 m and 1,40 m), a living room with a dining table and kitchen, a bathroom and a terrace at the rear. The apartment is located on the 1st floor (one floor above ground floor) and is accessible by elevator and stairs. The apartment is equipped with refrigerator and freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a ceramic hob, an oven, and other utensils, as well as bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, a TV with international channels, and other amenities to ensure a pleasant and relaxed stay. LOCATION The apartment is located in a quiet street close to the city centre, 300 m from the Town Hall and 750 m from Mercado dos Lavradores. The Old Town, Funchal Marina and seafront are less than 15 minutes away on foot. Nearby there are cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, grocery stores, wine cellars, shops, museums, pharmacies and clinics. Although a car is not necessary, there are two public car parks 140 m from the building. Free parking possible at night and weekends in nearby streets. The Aerobus stop is at 850 m. There are bus stops 150 m away and by car there is easy access to Funchal's main roads and the highway to discover the island. REMARKS Cleaning is done before check-in and there is weekly cleaning, which includes a change of bed linen and towels. Due to the island's climate, insects can occur unexpectedly. To avoid attracting insects, it is important to clean up leftover food and keep food well packaged. People who are sensitive to mosquito bites are advised to use insect repellent when travelling around the island. There are security cameras in the common areas of the building outside of the apartment. The increase in the number of guests implies a price increase of up to 10% per person. CONDITIONS 1\. Parties or behaviour that disturb the peace and well-being of neighbours are not allowed, especially between 10 pm and 8 am when neighbourhood noise is prohibited. 2\. An online check-in form will be sent to collect essential identification data for check-in, arrival time and means of transport, which must be submitted by guests at least two days before arrival. 3\. Self-check-in with flexible arrival time is available via a key lockbox whose code is created and sent on the day of arrival. For face-to-face check-in, it is necessary to schedule the time and the waiting time is 60 minutes, after which a new time can be scheduled according to our availability. 4\. Guests may be required to present identification upon arrival and provide missing identification details to comply with legal requirements. 5\. Any malfunctions, incidents or faults in the initial cleaning must be reported as soon as they are detected so that they can be checked and addressed in a timely manner during the stay. Issues reported late for the sole purpose of obtaining a refund will not be considered. 6\. We were there for 5 weeks so I need a well appointed kitchen and comfortable seating area as well as some storage space for clothes. I chose this place because it looked bright on the website pictures. In fact it was terribly dark, no real windows and for the most part looking out on a wall. Although there were 2 bedrooms, only one was usable with a good bed and a built in closet. Room 2 was so small only the bed fit without any closet space. How could 4 people stay there ? The kitchen was also disappointing with a lack of surface space to work on and missing all kinds of equipment. In 5 weeks you cook quite a bit as restaurants are good but not everyday. This kitchen had no microwave, a non functional toaster that the site manager replaced but with a cheap unit that was not really adequate, no salad spinner, a very bad quality corkscrew, pans that were old and not very high quality. Finally the living area was equipped with an old sofa, very hard to sit on, no chairs other than 4 metal ones to be used at the dining table. All very bad. This was our 4th time in Madeira. We always pick a different area of Funchal to stay and the only reason we ended up at Beco Santa Emilia is because the house I had rented last summer was sold by the owner 2 months before our departure. This was a last minute choice and it was far from the best but, Fatima the site manager was very helpful. ##### Michel J.
