Our room was actually in the Castle Lodge, about 200 yards before you reached the Castle. The grounds were terrific, and we were met by the "welcoming committee" (namely, 3 of the 4 castle dogs: Higgins, Molly/Maggie, and Einstein).
Our room (really a suite) was huge - about 40'by 32', including a sitting room. The bed was an extra large 4-poster canopy bed. The breakfast was served in the castle and it was delicious.

Beautiful spot, most polite friendly staff I've ever met,I mean every member of the staff(owners included) greeted me by first name for both days while I was there and treated me like an old friend returning for the 50th time, even though it was my first stay. what else can I say, great hotel, great staff & great food. of theirs anything they can do for you, they will.

A fantastic hotel in an amazing location directly overlooking the lake and mountains. Beautiful, modern and sophisticated decor throughout. Excellent dining and spacious rooms. My only wish is that there was room air conditioning, but everything has been 5 star.

Our stay at the Manor West Hotel was very good. The hotel is modern, clean and bright. Our room was a highlight but we did opt for an upgrade. It was nice to come back to the hotel after a day of seeing the local sights. The pub offered good food and drink and we dined there both nights. The breakfast was good with friendly staff. We would recommend staying at the Manor West Hotel.

Lobby and main entrance are beautiful. It was easy to get parking on street close to hotel. Food was very good at restaurant in hotel. Good breakfast too. Staff very helpful. The only weak point is the missing fridge or microwave in room, but staff offered to keep our cold items in the reception fridge. Room are comfortable.
Location very good to visit the area.

Wonderful, large and very clean room. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and we were even welcomed with a wee nip of whiskey at check in. Location is perfect, centrally located in Killarney. The breakfast is excellent but note that the €22.50 cost per person is additional to the room.

While vintage in appearance, the Grand Hotel looks impeccable and very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. While we did not have the available hot breakfast, we chose the fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals and out of the oven, delicious scones. Highly recommended.

The best area to stay in Fieries is the village centre, particularly around the main crossroads where the R561 and R563 meet.
This central location offers easy access to local amenities such as traditional pubs and small shops. It's a convenient base for exploring the surrounding County Kerry countryside, with Tralee and Killarney both within a short drive. The village itself is quite compact and easy to navigate on foot.
For couples looking for a relaxed and authentic Irish experience, staying in the village centre is ideal.
When is the best time to go to Fieries?
The best time to visit Fieries, County Kerry, Ireland, is during the summer months, specifically from June to August.
During this period, you'll experience the warmest weather and the longest daylight hours, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of County Kerry. The average temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 15°C to 20°C. This allows for pleasant outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and exploring the nearby Killarney National Park without the chill or heavy rain often associated with other seasons.
Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find the summer particularly appealing. The extended daylight means more time to enjoy scenic drives along the Ring of Kerry or the Dingle Peninsula, followed by relaxed evenings in Fieries' welcoming pubs and restaurants. You'll have ample opportunity to visit historical sites and enjoy leisurely walks in the countryside.
Families travelling with children will also appreciate the summer months. The warmer weather makes it easier to enjoy outdoor attractions, and many local festivals and events are scheduled during this time, providing entertainment for all ages. Places like Ross Castle and Muckross House and Gardens are more enjoyable when the weather is fine, and the kids can run around freely.
While the summer is the most popular time, expect larger crowds and higher prices for accommodation and flights.
