I made a reservation at to OYO St.Andrews for March 10-March 12\. I made it several weeks in advance. The afternoon of March 10–thirty minutes before check in time—I was informed that my reservation could not be honored due to “renovations.” I was told that my reservation had been moved to the OYO Arden Guest House which is 4 miles away. I had no interest in this arrangement as it was not the location I wanted and I did not have a vehicle. I asked for a refund. They said they could not give me one because I made the reservation through Expedia. I contacted Expedia who contacted them to confirm my reservation was not honored. They are now refusing to issue a refund through Expedia because I did not “use” my reservation. This is in spite of the fact that I provided them with both a text message confirming my reservation had been moved to a different location and a voice mail they left me confirming my reservation had been moved. Disgusting. The dishonesty is astounding. I paid for a service. It was not provided. Now they will not release my money for refund. This is a dishonest, incompetent establishment. No en-suite bathroom but considering the price of the room and the fact there are only 14 bedrooms in the hotel, it wasn’t so bad sharing a bathroom and they were very clean and modern. The bin hadn’t been emptied on arrival and bedsheets were a bit dirty but overall the room was comfortable. When checking out, there was no one at reception and we were a bit nervous about leaving our keys, but we managed to hide them so no one else could find them (but hopefully the receptionist could!) Overall, I’d give it a 6/10 and to be honest for the great price and walking distance from the Edinburgh and the centre of Leith, it was worth it! The manager was helpful, I was early checking in, so the manager took me along to the kitchen, where I made coffee and waited ten minutes until the room was ready. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel was situated in a central position, though not a part of town I would like to walk about late at night. Die Liste ist lang, Hotelzimmer war genau so wie beschrieben und bebildert. Von den vorhandenen Lampen hat keine funktioniert, alle Glühbirnen waren defekt. Es fehlten die Handtücher, wurden später nach gereicht. Frühstück? Toastbrot mit Marmelade, Instant Kaffee und ein bisschen Saft. Küche war sehr unaufgeräumt und nicht sauber. Das schlimmste am Hotel, die Hellhörigkeit, man hört jeden im Hotel. Das laute Türen schließen, Gespräche der Nachbarzimmer. Schlafen war kaum möglich. Zu laufen ins Zentrum dauert es 45min. I understand my stay was during the Fringe Festival and I had made the booking the week prior, however there is no excuse for the quality and level of service of this location compared to the price. It is more accurately a glorified hostel. Pictures show a reasonable clean and modern room with plenty of white paint, which is not false, but the reality doesn’t hide how cheap the materials are. There were 2 small bathrooms (toilet/ electric shower and sink) shared to at least 7 bedrooms, I didn’t count for the ground or top floor bathrooms, that’s if they even existed... shower was dirty and bedsheets were certainly not “spotless” with a large mark on the main sheet. In the room you are offered a kettle, a cup, a glass and a very small selection of tea/ coffee and sugar. No shower soap available which to me is a standard provision and a necessity for someone who packs light. Even a refill installation in the shower would be the least that could be provided. Breakfast was included but finishes at 09:30, which I was not aware of at 09:55 and told to look in the fridge if I wanted... Actual service was non existent. I was handed the room key and that was it. The room was clean and well kept. There is a large shared kitchenette, near our shared bathroom. I would recommend shower sandals as the shower floor does not separate from the rest of the bathroom. It is simply a curtain on a track, so the entire floor is wet, after your shower. However, there is a squeegee, so you can pull the water towards the drain. At checkin, they didn’t have my pre-paid Expedia reservation, so I had to email the receptionist my confirmation email. The receptionist was kind and got us checked in quickly. Je m'explique, communication visiblement peu efficace entre le site de réservation et le bed & breakfast puisque à mon arrivée pas de réservation à mon nom donc pas de chambre...Il a fallu batailler pour obtenir gain de cause avec la chance d'avoir une chambre de libre pour la 1ère nuit sinon je dormais dehors ou ailleurs ....il y a mieux pour débuter un séjour. Ensuite différents interlocuteurs qui ne sont pas au courant entre eux qui me demandent de payer la nuit passée donc en plus de ce que j'avais payé lors de la réservation initiale donc rebatailler. Au final presque 2 jours de stress en négociation. Enfin l'histoire s'est enfin aplanie. Les chambres sont corrects niveau propreté mais pas de mini penderie pour les chambres pour 2 personnnes avec lit double, bon pourquoi pas ? Salle de petit déjeuner correct sans plus ( il ne faut pas être trop délicat si on est sensible à la propreté ). An embarrassment. I appreciate Hotels.com maybe partly to blame, but when you have a customer with a booking confirmation for the correct date DO NOT try to blame them. Accusing the customer of arriving a day late, their card being declined, cancelling the booking is unacceptable let alone trying to make us pay again. Please learn what a booking confirmation is and do not waste 45 minutes of time arguing about this. Honestly 1am after a late flight I don't care how yours or any other booking system works! Hotel itself cannot be faulted clean, comfy bed, good value and reasonably good location. Toilet var ikke på værelset, men fælles for etagen, skabslåger sad ikke ordentlig fast og der var ikke rengjort ordentligt. Ved checkout mødte receptionist op i underbukser og t-shirt (boede vidst i lokale bag reception).
