"This was by far the most unique, amazing hotel we stayed at on the island of Crete. Upon arrival we were given fresh-squeezed lemonade made from their own lemon trees. The staff was so friendly! The building is over 500 years old, and nothing like I've ever seen before. The suite we got was huge, (living room, full kitchen, dining room, and bathroom downstairs and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs). We had our own private patio and a back door that led right to the pool. The town and the people...

Grecotel LUX ME White

10/10 Excellent

"I had the immense pleasure of staying at Grecotel Lux*Me White for one week in mid-October, sharing a double room with two single beds with my 14-year-old son. To say this was quite possibly the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in would be an understatement. Amazing staff, a great location just 15 minutes from Rethymno, and a complimentary daily shuttle bus departing the hotel at 11 am and returning to pick you up at 3 pm. What more could you ask for? The hotel amenities are exceptional, from breakfast, lunch and dinner to drinks and snacks throughout the day. The staff are absolutely brilliant and spare no effort in making their guests’ stays truly memorable. I had several jaw-dropping moments during our stay, too many to list, but one that really stood out was seeing a full-sized honeycomb served at breakfast. That alone should give you a small idea of the exceptional service and experience this hotel offers. Honestly, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The highlight of the trip for me was the evening spent at the hotel’s own organic farm. Utter luxury."

Nautilux Rethymno by Mage Hotels

8/10 Good

"Over all hotel is nice , Everyone working here was nice and kind . Anyhow for 5 star hotel shower enclosure is only 2 stars…. It is no door from living area to the bathroom,so it is crazy cold when you get out from the shower, and enclosure itself is ridiculously uncomfortable, Other thing -guests are allowed to smoke in a balcony,no separation between smoking and nonsmoking rooms,so you will smell disgusting cigarette smoke all day long… Also -5 star hotel does not have heated pool ,so October 12 th pool temperature was 15 degrees Celsius-that is absolutely ridiculous…please invest some money for your pool heating,so guests, who paid for 5 star hotel can enjoy it …"

Royal Sun Hotel

8/10 Good

"Rooms were spacious, clean and had beautiful views of Chania! The breakfast buffet was a real highlight with the range of food and the staff were so helpful. Great facilities such as onsite car rental and gym. Great free shuttle which helped us a lot. At times there was a lot of noise coming from the upstairs restaurant which wouldn’t stop until 12am. Rooms could’ve been soundproofed."

Aquila Rithymna Beach

8/10 Good

"BEAUTIFUL MAINTAINED GROUNDS. FRIENDLY HELPFUL STAFF. WE HAD A PARTIAL SEA VIEW BUNGALOW - THE VIEW WAS GOOD & BUNGALOWS ARE LOCATED IN A QUITE PART OF THE RESORT. LOVED OUR BALCONY ( RM 30). MAIN CRITICISM OF THE ROOM IS THE OVER BATH SHOWER. WHOEVER PLANNED PUTTING THE TAPS IN THE CENTRE OF THE BATH AS WELL AS THE WIRE RACK & SOAP DISPENSERS HAS NEVER TRIED TO STAND TAKING A SHOWER IN THE BATH WHILST FIGHTING THE PLASTIC SHOWER SHEET - IT IS DANGEROUS . I CANNOT IMAGINE HOW HEAVIER / LARGER PEOPLE MANAGE IT!!. RECEPTION - VERY RESPONSIVE TO ANY REQUESTS IE COFFEE NOT TOPPED UP WAS QUICKLY RESOLVED. RESORT AMENITIES: POOLS BEAUTIFUL & WELL MAINTAINED. AQUA PARK GOOD FUN. BARS/RESTAURANTS: MAIN BUFFET BREAKFAST - EXCELLENT FOOD CHOICES BUT VERY BUSY. BETTER OPTION HAVE BREAKFAST IN PERGOLA SIDE - TABLES WIDER SPACED - FEELS LESS HECTIC. LOVED THE GREEK RESTAURANT / FOOD & STAFF. AL A CARTE RESTAURANT LOVELY. BEACH BAR - LOVELY DRINKS BUT UNDER STAFFED SO SERVICE CAN BE VERY VERY SLOW!!! SERVICE AT MAIN BAR POOR WHEN ON LOWER LEVEL. FAILED TO BE SERVED OUR DRINKS ON 3 OCCASIONS WHEN ORDERED DOWNSTAIRS. RESORT IS VERY CHILD FRIENDLY. WOULD I GO BACK - PERSONALLY THINK THE AI PACKAGE IS OVERPRICED AND THE ROOMS ARE NOT REALLY 5*. IN SPITE OF THIS WE REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY"

Grecotel Plaza Beach House

10/10 Excellent

"We booked a room at the last minute. There will a little mix up upon arrival but the hotel upgraded us and bought us dinner to compensate us. Honestly, there was no need. The hotel was fabulous and the staff could not have been friendlier. The beach area was perfect and exactly what we wanted during our time in Greece. Rethymno is a lovely town and not nearly as busy as Chania, which made a huge difference. We would definitely go back to this hotel."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Dramia?

The best area to stay in Dramia is directly along the coastline, particularly around the main beach area.

This neighbourhood is the heart of Dramia, offering direct access to the sea and a relaxed holiday experience. You'll find a collection of hotels, apartments, and villas dotted along the beachfront road, providing stunning views of the Cretan Sea. It's a linear layout, with most amenities within walking distance of the beach.

Families often find this area superb due to the proximity to the beach. The calm, shallow waters are excellent for children, and many accommodations offer family-friendly facilities like swimming pools and dining options. You're never far from a spot to enjoy the sun and sand.

Couples looking for a peaceful getaway will also appreciate the beachfront area. It's an ideal setting for romantic evenings watching the sunset over the sea, with a selection of tavernas and restaurants offering local cuisine right on the water's edge.

When is the best time to go to Dramia?

The best time to visit Dramia is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from late April to early June or from September to October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures great for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find the sea warm enough for swimming, and the local tavernas and shops are fully operational.

For couples looking for a relaxing getaway, these periods provide a more tranquil experience. You can enjoy strolls along the beach, explore nearby villages, and dine alfresco without the bustling atmosphere of mid-summer. The weather is consistently agreeable for exploring the natural beauty of the region.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the shoulder seasons. The milder temperatures are more comfortable for little ones, and popular attractions are less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed pace.
