Just tucked away enough to feel like a private oasis but an easy and quick drive into Amboise, which was a perfect home base for exploring the rest of the Loire. "The property is one of a kind with its natural caves. Christophe the host along with his dog and cat make you feel welcome upon arrival. The property is truly remarkable albeit slightly humid as it is a natural cave. With a swimming pool surrounded by natural rock and rooms that are one of a kind, it is worth staying at Le Clos de l'Hermitage."

"It was a privilege to stay at the clos. The property is a beautifully managed winery and the hosts are very warm and welcoming. They live on the estate and graciously share their knowlege. Our only suggestions would be some fans or dehumidifier for use when it is very hot. While the home stays cool if the doors are closed, it also gets damp since it is stone. Many thanks to Claude and Francine for their hospitality. "

"Loved everything about this beautiful house. Location - although too far to walk into town, there was tranquility and reprieve from busy chateau towns. (Bolt service available in and out of town),Facilities- All home comforts in a tastefully decorated style. Great to have washing facilities after lengthy travel.Host - Pascale very friendly and obliging.Note: There is a steep winding staircase to upstairs bedrooms but after the first day, we learnt to conquer them!Thoroughly recommend La Vernelle"
