Paul was so helpful with directions before I arrived, and Brenden cooked up a wonderful breakfast which was just what I needed before boarding the Spirit back to Geelong. Staying at The Grand is like taking a step back in time. The facilities are superbly renovated and the old charm of early Australia has been retained throughout the property. The rooms are extremely comfortable with all the modern amenities and the breakfast cooked by our hosts was absolutely delicious. The property is conveniently located a short walk into town where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. I highly recommend The Grand on Macfie to anyone stopping in Devonport. Our room had an incredible sea view overlooking the terminal where the Spirit of Tasmania docks. Stunning! The owners have also created beautiful sitting rooms where guests can sit with a quiet beverage. The room had a 4 poster bed, the furnishings were beautiful and the whole experience exuded comfort, elegance and style. We explained to Paul and Brenden that we may have to miss our first breakfast due to an early start the next morning and then Brenden insisted he would start breakfast early to make sure we travelled with a full belly its little things like this that really made our stay.
