Always a great stay at this hotel — so close to Drake, and the room is always fantastic. So nice to have a little kitchen.

I have family in Des Moines and this is my favorite hotel to stay while I am visiting. I love the little kitchen and living room set up and the Drake neighborhood is really nice and walkable.

The property it self is beautiful. I would stay here again. There are 2-3 restaurants walking distance from the property, but nothing more.

Staff was so accommodating to me and my family. We stayed there for a Drake tour for my son but my daughter wanted to swim in the pool but because the tour ended at noon normally we would have to check out. Gina and her team allowed us to check out late and my daughter was able to swim for about for 20 minutes before we had to check out and hit the road. Thanks so much

It was like staying at a dog pound and I love dogs! Room next to us had 3 huge dogs, the other side had 2 and down a few rooms on the opposite side of hall each had a dog. It continued for hours until we called at 10;30 and we were told we had to move if we wanted. We did and the next morning we woke up to a dog barking across the hall. I love dogs but a little bit needs to be done. Maybe only one floor for dogs? In our room the couch was also ripped from scratching and chewing.

Comfortable Hotel
Checkin was smooth. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Pet friendly, which is fine, but a poor dog across the hall from us was crying on and off for 2 hours around 8pm. Upon check out the desk manager was unfriendly and rude and couldn’t print me a receipt. Otherwise, nice stay.

Nice area. We were disappointed in having reserved a king room then they had none available due to overselling. We were downsized to a queen and charged the same. We could hear our neighbors through the walls partying and doing other 'activities'. Was a bit disturbing.

Hotel seemed just a little understaffed. Overall clean but hallways seemed like they dont get staff walking them every day. (Little bits of wrapper mid hallway there at 1pm the day of check in still there at 10am check out). Polite service that took care of the tv system not working in the room with a transfer of room.

I have been staying at this hotel every few months since it opened. I have a college student who rooms close to the hotel. When it first opened it was very clean and well kept. The staff was professional and made certain that everything was tended to. My last few stays have been lacking. The desk staff are clearly uninterested in their job. The rooms have been so-so as far as upkeep. Broken blinds, malfunctioning TV, very drafty, etc. Before this hotel opened i stayed at some of the downtown hotels. They are very nice hotels for the same price. I am considering returning to one of them.

I liked the safety of having to put your key card in at elevator. It was very clean and quiet; however-i DID NOT like that once in the room I had to insert my card for the kitchen light to come on and if I wanted it to stay on it had to be left inserted. This would have been a REAL issue if I had been in a hurry to leave the room for something as my card would have been in the light!

Initially, I felt the property was good. The biggest problem is the housekeeping was not available but “every other day”. This was not explained at check-in or in anything I read on line. But when they didn’t come the second day either it was upsetting. To be fair the location is close to Drake University and walking distance to the local hospital (which is why I was there) Breakfast was good, there is a gym and the staff was kind. They brought towels up that night but there is nothing like coming into a clean room after a long day which was definitely not the case. I will be back in the area soon and know, I will not stay there again.
