"An absolutely lovely property for families or couples. Kind staff and great restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The property also has a truly exceptional spa where I had a 5-star massage that I would recommend to all travellers!!"

"Hotel Ristorante La Terrazza was the perfect base for a 4-day trip to Assisi and its surroundings. It's conveniently located near main attractions and just a 5-minute drive from the city center. The restaurant was excellent, the pool was well-maintained, and the location is simply stunning."

This is a unique property in the middle of a National Park. Yes the road leading up to it is winding and narrow and rutted but again it is in the middle of nowhere and we have driven roads like this all over Italy to get to beautiful places.
Some of the outdoor areas are not as manicured as I’m sure they once were but overall the surrounding scenery more than makes up for it.
The restaurant has a limited excellent menu and the team headed by Simone is very welcoming. Also enjoyed his choice of...

I was traveling from Assissi and had a few days before I would go to Florence to participate in a conference. I needed a place to write my presentation so I searched online for business centres in Assisi. Borgo Lanciano was on the list. The price was amazing for a place that looked so luxurious. The fact that it was a spa hotel sold me. I love spas so I booked it immediately. I wasn't aware until I set out on my journey that it was quite far from Assisi. The hotel impressed me even before I got...

Parking was a little tight on the property, but some guests used a large open parking lot across the street. The hosts were hands-on incredible, friendly and helpful. And then there was a daily breakfast buffet with fresh cakes directly from 'Nona's Kitchen'. OMG good. The Internet was strong and reliable and the SmartTV in our guest room allowed us to catch a few movies from our Canadian Netflix account by simply scanning a QR Code on our cellphone. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had just spent a hectic two days in Venice when we came to this peaceful place with wonderful hosts. The pool was gorgeous and well maintained. We walked for hours amongst the 700 acres of trails. We left after two days wishing we could stay longer. Next time we will spend the week.

The hotel was very nice and clean, and the breakfast was amazing. However, the front desk service could be improved. There was a really nice lady who helped us check in, but another one who picked up the phone at front desk (July 20th evening) and sighed before answering my ONE question, indicating she did not want to deal with me. I felt poorly treated at that moment and would have expected more from such a nice hotel. It was quite rude.

The best area to stay in Costa, Umbria, is the historic core of Spoleto, particularly within the ancient city walls, for its ease of access to cultural sites and a relaxed atmosphere.
Spoleto's historic centre is a delightful maze of narrow, cobbled streets, ancient churches, and charming piazzas. It's largely pedestrianised, making it wonderful for exploring on foot. Key landmarks include the Duomo di Spoleto and the Rocca Albornoziana, which offers panoramic views. The main thoroughfare, Corso Giuseppe Mazzini, is lined with shops and eateries.
Couples will find Spoleto particularly appealing. Its romantic setting, with centuries-old architecture and hidden courtyards, provides a great backdrop for a relaxing getaway. You can spend days exploring art galleries, enjoying long lunches at local trattorias, and taking leisurely strolls along the Passeggiata, a scenic path offering views of the surrounding Umbrian countryside.
For travellers looking for a base to explore the wider Umbria region, staying just outside Spoleto's city walls, perhaps along Viale Giacomo Matteotti, offers good access to main roads while still being within easy walking distance of the historic centre.
When is the best time to go to Costa?
The best time to visit Costa, Umbria, is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.
Spring offers pleasant weather with mild temperatures, ideal for exploring the region's countryside and hill towns. The landscape is lush and green, and wildflowers are in bloom, making it a beautiful time for leisurely walks or cycling. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more relaxed experience at popular sites.
Autumn also provides comfortable weather, with warm days and cooler evenings. This period is particularly appealing for those interested in local culinary experiences, as it coincides with grape harvesting and truffle season. The changing colours of the vineyards and forests create a picturesque backdrop for sightseeing.
While summer (July and August) is popular, it can be quite hot, and tourist spots tend to be busier.
