Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy tips that will get your Kochmes escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an amazing flight experience is to pack ahead. So, let's start with the basics: passport, boarding pass, credit cards and medications. Next, take on board items that'll help keep you busy, like some electronic gadgets or a good book. It's also a wise idea to pack your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earphones. Finally, be sure to pop in toiletries like a toothbrush, lip balm and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and remember to take a sweater as it can get chilly in the cabin during long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also recommended.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Doing leg and foot exercises in your seat helps to prevent this happening. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression socks is also recommended.
