About this property
Historic 1915 2BR · No Pet Fees
Property Description Well-behaved dogs are welcome here — no pet fee, ever. We travel with ours, and we've designed the space with pet-friendly guests in mind. Built in the early 1900s, The Willow Suite has lived many lives: a boarding house, a halfway house, the offices of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and most recently a church. We fell in love with it, renovated it from top to bottom, and called it home for nearly three years. What you'll find is a house that honors its history while living beautifully in the present.
The Willow Suite occupies the rear of Willow House with its own private entrance. Climb three steps to the rear stoop, enter your unique code, and step directly into a large, fully equipped kitchen. The space has a great mix of historical character and modern touches: original hardwood floors, high ceilings, and a kitchen floor pattern that never fails to catch a guest's eye.
The kitchen flows into a comfortable living area with cozy seating, a desk, and a flat screen TV. The single bathroom is conveniently located on this level and is stocked with complimentary Public Goods shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion.
Upstairs you'll find two bedrooms. The first features a queen bed and a separate twin daybed, ideal for a small family or flexible sleeping arrangements. The second is another queen bedroom. Both rooms have closets, windows with blinds and curtains, and window units for supplemental heating and cooling. The beds are dressed with memory foam mattresses and custom headboards in Turkish fabric.
A vestibule between the bedrooms holds a full length mirror, extra linens, a water carafe, and commonly forgotten toiletry items. The Willow Suite has its own private entrance and you're welcome to enjoy as much privacy as you'd like. The Willow Suite is 10 minutes from downtown and close to both I-24 and I-75.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome here. We travel with ours, and we’ve designed the space with pet-friendly guests in mind.
The Willow Suite is properly zoned and permitted by the City of Chattanooga as a Short-Term Rental. In a city where many listings operate without permits, booking with us means supporting a small family business that plays by the rules and contributes to the community.
Guest Access Climb 3 steps to enter the rear stoop, where you'll find the guest door with a door lock keypad. This entry is at the rear of the house nearest to the alley. Your unique code will be sent before arrival.
Interaction with Guests We live just a few blocks away and love meeting our guests. As a former Rotary Exchange Student, I've long believed that travel is one of the best ways to build connection and goodwill between people, and hosting is our small contribution to that.
Whether you have a question about the house, need a local recommendation, or just want to say hello, don't hesitate to reach out.
Other Details to Note The Willow Suite is an older home with the charm and character that comes with it. The original hardwood floors creak and the windows can be drafty in colder months. Central air and heat serve both apartments in the house and is a shared system. The living room and bedrooms have window units that provide supplemental heating and cooling. Please do not adjust the floor vents. If you need temperature changes, just reach out and we can adjust the system remotely.
Ridgedale is a historic neighborhood in transition. It has genuine character and a strong sense of community, but guests looking for a polished or upscale streetscape may find it doesn't quite match that expectation. We love its authenticity, and we want you to arrive with an accurate picture of the area.
The house has two apartments with separate entrances. You will not share interior space with other guests. Please be mindful of noise — the other unit may be occupied, and pets are welcome on both sides, so you may have neighbors of the four-legged variety as well.
Two off-street parking spaces are available via the alley behind the house. Additional street parking is available along Chamberlain Avenue around the corner.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at no additional fee. We ask that you follow a few simple rules so that the experience is good for everyone — including guests on the other side of the house, who may or may not also have a pet with them.
Please keep your dog leashed whenever outside on the property. There is no fenced yard, but two small parks are within a few blocks and there is open green space on the adjacent lot.
If you leave your dog alone in the unit, it must be crated. This is a firm requirement — an anxious dog in an unfamiliar space is the most common source of noise complaints in pet-friendly rentals, and we have guests next door.
Pet blankets are provided in the living room on the blanket holder. Please use them to cover the furniture when your dog is on the couch.
We use a privacy-safe noise monitoring device (decibel detection only — no audio recording) in the storage room between the two units. If sustained noise is detected, we will reach out to you directly and expect a prompt response. Continued disturbance may result in fees or cancellation without refund.
Maximum 2 pets per booking. Dogs and cats are welcome; other small caged or contained animals are fine — just let us know in advance. No reptiles or exotic animals, please. Guests are responsible for any damage or additional cleaning caused by their pet.
There is no laundry access for standard stays. Accommodations can be arranged for longer visits. Just ask.
Smoking, house parties, and loud gatherings are not permitted on the property. Unregistered pets are not permitted — if you’re bringing an animal, please let us know at booking.
At the back of the house there is a security camera and motion light that overlooks the parking area.
The Willow Suite sits on a main arterial road and some street noise can be noticeable.
Minimum age to book is 25 years old.

The place was absolutely lovely! So cozy and great for playing board games in the evening. Also incredibly dog proof, we brought our 3 month old lab and were worried about her getting into stuff, but it was so clean there was nothing for her to find! A wonderful place to stay!
We were in town for our the Chattanooga Ironman event and this was a very convenient location! House was clean and very comfortable. Kurt & Melissa were very responsive and gave us great recommendations on places to eat and visit. Highly recommend!
Pictures are very representative and the unit was clean, well stocked, roomy and comfortable. Communication with host was excellent. It's dog friendly and I would recommend staying here when in Chattanooga.
We couldn't have found a more convenient property and nicer hosts to allow us to explore all that Chattanooga has to offer! The accommodations were excellent; from extra towels and goodies for the pups to cold water and glasses by the bedroom waiting for us when we arrived and checked in. The hosts were very responsive to our questions and checked in on us frequently during our stay to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed to make the most of our trip! We definitely will be visiting this lovely city again soon!
Loved our stay!! adorable house, great location. We made lots of great memories. Had a little trouble with it being too hot but communicated with the host and they explained they’re figuring it out and we totally get it. We loved being so close to everything. The intersection is pretty loud, but the upstairs AC does a good job of hiding it. I’d absolutely stay here again!!
The house is very well kept and the owners did a great job communicating with us. No issues finding the home nor getting in. They go above & beyond to make sure their guests feel welcome. When we saw the dog treats, bowls, and blankets, we were a little sad we didn’t bring our dog! They had a fully stocked coffee station, soap, shampoo, lots of little extras you really appreciate when you’re traveling. Great find!
Had a couple small hiccups but overall a nice stay. Would be nice to have warmer comforters on the beds for the cooler months as it’s pretty impossible to run the heat overnight. The window units are loud and blow right on the beds. Also would have been nice to have a mattress on the trundle bed so our twins didn’t have to share a bed. Very convenient location to get around Chattanooga by car.
I somehow missed that this was a duplex but everything was fine. I was worried we would make too much noise but seems everything went ok. Spacious and clean it’s everything we needed. Cool old property. Owners were easy to work with, communicated well, and offer some amazing add ons like going to get groceries for you. I wish the property had more than one bathroom but again it worked for us during our stay. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks.
Property his located close to downtown. Plenty of room for us. My wife and I met our son and his two boys in Chattanooga for a couple days. Large kitchen and two bedrooms. We are use to having everything on one floor, as most properties where we are from are single story. The two bedrooms were upstairs and bathroom was on first floor. Not a big deal until getting up in the middle of the night. LOL Those of us who are older will understand. Over all it worked out great.
Exceptional Stay at Willow House - Highly Recommended!
Staying at Kurt and Melissa's Vrbo was an absolute delight! Their place was immaculately clean, extremely comfortable, and they were always available and helpful whenever I had questions.
The location in Highland Park brought back wonderful memories of when I used to live there. It’s the ideal spot, perfectly situated between downtown, the mountains, and other attractions, while still offering a peaceful retreat away from the city's hustle and bustle.
I will definitely be returning to the Willow House. Their pet-friendly approach, with dog blankets, poop bags, and treats, was fantastic. Additionally, the provided coffee and other amenities were thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home and worry-free.
Kurt and Melissa genuinely care about their guests’ experience. Their stylish decor and accommodating nature made our stay memorable. I can't thank them enough for their exceptional hospitality.
This was a great place to stay on a budget. It had intentional touches and the hosts do a great job of anticipating guest needs at this property. The check-in, check-out process were both very easy and we experienced great communication throughout the process. The listing doesn't mention that the space is shared with the hosts (at least that I could tell) and the property has a recommendation for quiet hours because the hosts and their children are sleeping on the other side of the wall. I'm sure we kept them awake at least one night with how rowdy our kids were on check-in night. It is definitely pet-friendly, but it was also pretty evident that animals had been present as there was still a good bit of dog hair and some of the linens/towels still smelled like dogs as well. All very minor issues that did not affect the overall pleasant and convenient experience on a budget. Would definitely revisit and recommend!
My group consisted of my 71 year old husband, two of our grandsons aged 9 and 6 and me, a 63 year old go for the gusto woman. Upon arrival we were pleased to find our temporary home welcoming and comfortable.
Our stay was for 4 nights and 5 days with activities planned morning, noon and night for each day. We found our home to be centrally located with easy access to the sights we planned on visiting.
Melissa and Kurt were excellent hosts and replied back quickly when a question was asked. We had the opportunity to meet them in person while we sat outside at the picnic table and enjoyed a lovely breeze and a sweet break in our schedule.
The beds were perfect for resting or reading with both bedrooms having thermostats for heat and air. My grandsons loved sharing a room. The closets are huge!
We love Chattanooga and now have a VRBO that we have found and hope to come back to stay again soon. South Willow Street address is marked on my Google Map as a favorite place and saved because of the WOW.
My husband and I were celebrating our 42nd Anniversary and our friends told us about their trip to Chattanooga and it sounded like a fun short trip to take from Lebanon, TN. We wanted our two small dogs with us, as one is 15 and has some health issues. The Willow Place took dogs and was centrally located to all the sites we were planning to see like Ruby Falls, Rock City and The TN Railway. We could also come back soon after and be with the dogs. It was about 10-15 minutes to attractions and also went for a hike in a park about 10 minutes away. Ate at two great restaurants, the Boathouse and Public House. Our hosts answered us very quickly and were great. I did not know they lived in the front until I read the instructions. It got a little warm because it was 100 degrees outside, but when I asked the host to make it cooler it did cool off quickly. The air upstairs are window air conditioners but worked well. The beds were comfortable. I got a cut on my ankle and the first aid kit was good to have! The only thing I missed was a drip coffee maker. I don’t like Krupa or pods. We got coffee out. I would stay again and bring my coffee pot if we stayed longer. We were only here two nights. I loved how close it was to main attractions and I could have my dogs.
Nice, clean and comfortable property. As they indicate in their listing it is on a busy street. They welcome pets and there is a nice yard for pets to get outside under supervision.Home is well cared for. The bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is on the first level which is good to be aware of.Easy drive to the areas of Chattanooga you want to visit.Very responsive and easy to communicate with.
