Things I wish I knew before I arrived: -we need to make the beds upstairs ourselves (put on the sheets) -the house uses well water so you want to bring bottled water Kim was very responsive to all communication and was very focused on solving problems, which I really appreciated. ##### Leora K. Not impressed with the host communication. This is the first time on using VRBO that we had to make the beds on arrival. The sheets and towels were in a tub in the closet. They were well used and had a smell to them that was not fresh and clean. The downstairs bathroom was dark and the shower could use a good scrubbing. The downstairs 2 bedrooms each had only 1 working lamp. There were floor lamps plugged in but no light came on. The upstairs loft and bathroom was nice but the only working light was the 1 in the bathroom. There was a lamp in the loft but it was not working. There was a ceiling fan which worked but again the light on the fan did not work. The water from the well had a terrible odor. Would not use it for anything but showering. The shower had no hot water the first couple of days. The host sent someone out to fix that. The lake was a fishing lake with no dock, not suited for swimming. There were wasps by the entry door which did not have a screen, so some wasps got in the cabin. There was a can of wasp spray on the porch but as this was an ongoing problem more should have been done. A couple of windows could not open because the crank was broken. We had invited family members to join us but after assessing the situation we were too embarrassed to offer them such meager accommodations. We expected more for $300 a night. The place needs a good cleaning and refurbishing. Would not return or reccomend this propert ##### Ellen C. Our adult family stayed several days while attending my son's wedding at Castle Farms. It was perfect! Conveniently located near the venue, Lake Michigan and Charlevoix stores, yet offered a serene, relaxing retreat from the bustle of wedding preparations and events. House was beautiful, clean, comfortable and well stocked with all we needed, plus amazing lake views, grazing deer, and lovely hilly vistas of neighboring farm properties as we traveled to and from or went for walks! The weather was wicked for late October, but we felt safe and cozy with the electric fireplace, sturdy log construction and inviting charm of the home. Will definitely come back in the summer to enjoy swimming, kayaking, horseshoes and outdoor campfires, etc. The owner was very prompt and responsive to my inquiries about a full length mirror and blankets at the home (had both)!
