"This is a beautiful and charming hotel. The inside of the hotel smells wonderful, and the atmosphere is very inviting. The only thing I didn’t like was that there is no pool. However, the garden is very relaxing and beautifully decorated, which makes it a lovely place to unwind. I can't wait to go back during the holidays."

"At the last minute, I was unable to come, so my adult daughter stayed there alone. She raved about the facility and the staff, so this review is based on her rave and on both her conversations with Dorothy and my phone conversation with Dorothy. She was unusually friendly and helpful."
Spyglass Inn

"Older property showing its age outside but interior of room was clean and well appointed. Outside asthetics were a bit disappointing as the Front building of property was under renovation but not disclosed at the time the reservation was made. Motel is in a good location on Shell Beach. FIREPITS by the bluffs were a BIG plus and are available on first come first serve basis."

"Portola is always the first choice to stay when I’m in Monterey. They have lovely ambience and the rooms are clean and staff is always nice. Also, they are so close to all the attractions."
