This is a wonderful hotel and I look forward to returning here. The location and view are spectacular. They have so many thoughtful amenities from blankets and shawls out by the beach chairs and fire pits. The breakfast were made up of delicious pastries and breakfast sandwiches/items. Our room which was right off the pool was large, clean and perfect. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and if you preferred a different type of pillow you could request it. The hotel is right by all the shops and restaurants in Carlsbad village. The staff, especially Michelle, were so welcoming, nice and accommodating.

We loved this place and its special touches. The location is unbeatable and the property is well thought out. The poncho robes in the room are excellent as are the blankets for outdoor use, very cozy. The balcony was wonderful and we could sit out at night and watch the waves crashing on the shore, the sound was divine. The wristbands are a nice touch and makes it easy to go out on the beach without having to carry a bag. The breakfast was healthy and delicious. The property is very walkable to restaurants also. We will be back.

From the time we entered the lobby and warmly greeted to the time we checked out 4 nights later, everything was wonderful. The staff, the views, the property and the extras like breakfast, beach chairs and umbrellas and even popsicles handed out on a hot day. Only one small glitch when the TV wasn’t working for a day or 2. We hope to be back again soon!

Beautiful large rooms. Reserved from a booking site as log-in from Beach Terrace site was problematic, and still got a room with a balcony and partial ocean view. This was a vast improvement from last year's room which was on a walkway and much appreciated, it made our vacation more enjoyable. All personnel is wonderfully welcoming and helpful. We love the pool, the beach valet service, the bikes and the wonderful breakfast. We love to be within walking distance of many restaurants and shops.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. The architecture of the property was amazing. There was a pretty ocean view. But you have to walk a few blocks to get to the beach.

Location and service were excellent. The beach valet, in particular, is a remarkable amenity. However, this family-owned property lacks routine maintenance. Rooms are clean and tastefully furnished, but baseboards, doors and frames, and walls are chipped in multiple areas and are obviously scuffed. Considering the rate, the discerning traveler will be slightly disappointed in the room conditions after passing through a well-kept and aesthetically appealing reception area. The ocean front view offsets these flaws, but the overall value is diminished as a result of them.
