I used to live in Cairo and I have stayed at plenty of 5 star hotels around the city. This is not 5 star. Pros: - Location is nice. The view of the Nile is great and it is rather quite. You don't hear the constant honking of cars if you were to stay on the Corniche. - Housekeeping was delightful. The gentlemen were polite and always did a lovely job. - Breakfast was delicious. Great variety and nice set up. Cons: - Staff seemed too busy in their own personal conversations. Everyday, I saw the breakfast staff gather together to just chit chat, no one ever talked to me. Only at first to ask what I wanted to drink, but thats it. Both coming into the hotel and leaving the hotel, I struggled to lift my suitcase up the stairs. No one assisted me...plenty watched me, but instead of helping, the men stood together to talk to one another. Which is super surprising as the Egyptian hospitality is usually very helpful. - The doors are not quite. I could hear every time a neighbor open or closed their room door. - I had a non-smoking room, however, someone around me clearly was smoking and I felt it was coming through to my room.
