Horrendous experience.

Landed with my son late at night. Staff were intoxicared. Our room was double booked and there were no rooms available. Tried contacting Hotels.com to rectify the problem and they couldn't accomodate us anywhere else locally. They were going to send us to Oxford 3 and a half hours away plus £130 for a taxi. In fairness to one of the staff members he arranged a taxi who drove us around Bradford until we got alternative accommodation.

Avoid this place!

Extremely poor service. Untrained staff in the business. I should know this as a frequent teaveller. I would never stay and would not recommend this place to anybody. It is not a hospitality business but rather a pub entertaining its people. Huge disappointment!

Staff were lovely, arrived late due to travel and went straight to room. Room above conservatory, party on downstairs. Noise was incredibly loud and continued at that volume until 1.30 am - then turned down. Think we managed 4 hours sleep. Facilities were clean, bathroom very badly worn crack in floor tiles holes in bedroom floor under carpet etc. We did not return for our second night,

It is an incredibly poor hotel. The noise was poor. There were at least 2 nights when music was played loudly beyond 1am. The room was essentially just over the bar area. The hotel is a poor pub hotel with poor staff training and truculent behaviour

Convenient for City, comfortable, nice welcome

Unfortunately the room was not clean. I don't expect to have to clean a toilet before I use it, plus half the stuff in bathroom was hanging off the wall, including the shower fittings and soap dish. Also, the floor tiles in the bathroom were cracked and loose. It was not a hotel but a pub with rooms

Wonderful welcome from the manager

Pleasant room. Clean and well presented. Manager was so kind and attentive and made a difference to the perhaps more modern but totally cold hotel chains around . A little.noisy having a room by the main road but would not put me off returning . No breakfast so make sure you bring snacks.

Cheap and cheerful

Hotel is in need of some TLC but is basically clean, cheap and cheerful. The wasn't much furniture for storing clothes etc and the hanging rail was literally hanging off the wall!

Restaurant and Bar - not quite

It was difficult to figure out where to check in and the friendly staff had issues with the computer system. The friendly bartender who doubled as our check-in clerk was the only bright spot on the stay. Although the sign says Restaurant and bar there is no restaurant - after making our way through the maze of hallways we went downstairs, as there is no phone in the room to call the desk, we were told to browse the take out flyers from a basket by the freezing front door when we inquired about food. The bar was plenty noisy and the karaoke was drowning out the street noise in our room. As far as our room I booked 2 twins and got a king bed, the headboard was falling apart and the bed stunk of stale cigarettes. The carpet was lifted and worn and you could feel the loose floorboards through it and the bathroom had broken and loose tiles in it. On top of a lousy sleep and no food we had a knock at the door waking us at 9:30 making sure we were checking out although Expedia site states checkout is at 11am! When they knocked again at 10:30 I explained Expedia said check out was at 11 and we were almost ready. Horrible experience!

Cartwright Hotel

The main problem in the hotel is the cigarette smoke, the smoking area is enclosed and attached to the bar and smoke spreads throughout the whole hotel and into the rooms. Promise the towel and shower rails kept falling off and the shower door didn't shire properly. Would only recommend this hotel for smokers.

Bad Location

We booked because there was supposed to be a dining room with food. There was a dining room, extremely casual to sit in to eat take away food. We were told by the local's not to go out walking at night in the area. No restaurants were within walking distance and we didn't want to drive after a long day. The bar staff ordered food from a local free delivery restaurant and we ate at the hotel. Not what was represented on the website. The area seemed a little rough compared to the website description. Wouldn't return to the area.

Good Stay

Close to the airport. Good for a stay the night before flying out of Leeds-Bradford airport. YOu can walk 10 minutes and reach a bunch of decent restaurants and a super market. Really friendly receptionist. Talked to me a bunch, gave me tips and was very friendly and helpful. Clean room. Shower curtain smelt bad but otherwise clean room.
