Incredible Experience
The drive up was a little on the sketchy side, and I will reiterate that while I was able to make it just fine in my 2016 Camry SE, I likely would’ve gotten stuck on the dirt road if it had been raining heavily. With all that out of the way, the cabin itself is a dream! It was the most at peace I’ve been in a long while and I’m so thankful for my time there. I had been wanting to stay here for a while, and the stars finally aligned and I was able to bring my mobile recording rig and actually get some work done. I’ve been working on a series of songs that are directly related to my friendship with my dear friend who passed earlier this year, and one song in particular has been really hard to finish because it’s so intensely emotional. The cabin gave me the space to be vulnerable and sing my heart out. ANYWAY, more about the cabin itself: They are on solar power and completely off grid, so take care when it comes to power usage. I never had any problems, but it was mostly sunny while I was there. Everything, especially the deck, is wonderful. Honestly I could sit on that back deck for HOURS. The only suggestion I would make to the owners is to add curtains. It took a while for me to get used to it, mostly at night. Overall, an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back. Last little heads up: there is no door leading into the bathroom, just a curtain, so if you go with someone make sure you’re at that level of comfort with them. Thank you Tayler and Liv! A magical place in the middle of nowhere!
My wife and I came to bear creek cabin for our anniversary, and I couldn’t have been more perfect! If you want to experience REAL off the grid seclusion, this is the place! Once you’re on the property, there is zero signs of civilization and you are in your own enchanted forest! The cabin is super charming and cozy, and clean, perfect for two people. The wood burning stove really heats the place up nicely, and adds an extra layer of magic to the place! The kitchen has everything you need, and I honestly can’t say a single negative thing about bear creek cabin!! Tayler is an amazing host, with great communication, and even sent me a personal text with detailed directions and said to just reach out if we needed anything… top notch! Also, we paid attention to the reviews, and the mile plus dirt road definitely called for some vehicle clearance. We opted no not take our minivan, and rented a jeep, so it was no problem. Once you make it down the off dirt road, you will be rewarded with pure magic. Bear creek cabin is definitely a whole vibe ♥️

Our stay here was amazing. Loved everything about it. Will most likely end up coming back to this cabin.. it was so peaceful, exactly what I was looking for. I will say that dirt road coming in is a little intimidating but an all wheel vehicle tackled it no problem and after day one we got use to it

Relaxing getaway near Big Basin
We loved our stay in Boulder Creek! The cabin is remotely situated, which made our stay relaxing and a perfect getaway for exploring nature. We appreciated the tranquility in the morning. Although the windows have no blinds, we were able to sleep undisturbed from the sunlight as the cabin is surrounded by trees. The cabin has everything that you need for disconnecting from the stressors of the city. No wifi and no TV was actually a blessing. We took advantage of the full kitchen. Our favorite spot was the balcony. The cabin is comfortable for two. We were three people. There is a tri fold mattress stored underneath the main bed which is best suitable for a kid. Plenty of bed covers to use for cushioning though. Overall, a great stay!

Everything was absolutely perfect. The quietness, cleanliness. Fragrance of nature and the cabin. Being off grid was everything we needed. There is only one downside which is the rocky dirt road. The host gave as ample heads up but driving at night is rough with the dirt/dusty road with many bumps. As long as you have the right car and patience it’s worth it

Private and relaxing stay
I was looking for someplace remote where no one would bother me for a couple days and I got my wish. The road going to the cabin is rough enough that no one would have visited even if they had been invited. Tucked away in a canyon in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the location is idyllic. I may have seen one other car passing by in the two days I was there. Absolute heaven! The cabin was immaculately clean. There are a couple of quirks that were more charming than annoying. The lock on the front gate is kind of finnicky. But nothing major and I had a great stay. The private deck overlooking the canyon and the creek is spectacular and I spent most of my time there. Will definitely be back!

Peaceful Retreat Deep in the Forest
This is truly a unique off-the-grid property deep in the lush redwood forest of the Santa Cruz mountains. After traveling about a mile down a narrow winding bumpy dirt road, we arrived at this lovely, secluded, very tidy little cabin in a peaceful canyon surrounded by redwoods on the edge of Bear Creek. The solitude there is amazing with just the sound of the creek, birds and breeze in the trees. The cabin is like a studio with basic kitchen and bath, and the ceiling is high with several large skylights. There’s a huge sliding glass door to a wonderful deck overlooking the creek. The double bed was very comfortable with high quality bedding. The kitchen fridge is small, but there are adequate utensils, plates, pots etc to make simple meals on the gas stove. The small town of Boulder Creek with a gourmet grocery is about 20 minutes away. The dirt road to the cabin is challenging but we were able to do it with a Honda Accord as it’s dry this time of year. During rainy season, a 4WD vehicle would be safer.

Beautiful little cabin in the wood
I really enjoyed my stay at the cabin. Follow the trail down to the creek and you'll get the beautiful nature all to yourself! Absolutely no neighbors and tons of privacy. I was lucky enough to see a babana slug near the creek despite that the days I stayed were pretty warm and dry. The cabin itself was clean and the bed was comfortable. Lastly, the dirt road to the cabin is indeed long and bumpy. I was driving an Elantra and I was barely able to make to the cabin without major bottom out. If your vehicle has a clearance smaller than 5.5 inches,or a longer wheelbase than an Elantra, most likely you'll have trouble even if it's a dry sunny day.

Off grid retreat in the redwoods
I stayed for two nights in May with my partner. Pros: This cabin is probably the most remote one can get while being within 30 min of a major metropolitan area. The property is breath taking, a secluded gem with access to a babbling creek and a patio that overlooks several stories of redwoods, douglas firs, and greenery. A full kitchen that enabled some fabulous dinners. Wonderful natural light. Open and airy during the day and warmed by a wood stove at night. The string lights on the porch and the ample pillows were a lovely touch. Cons: The drive to the cabin was a little rough as described, but also eerily dotted with abandoned vehicles with windows shot out. The locals were friendly enough. The bathroom has no door, just a curtain, but still felt private enough. The first night, the bats kept flying into the windows and kept me awake (but not my partner). Overall, cannot recommend enough if you are looking to spend a weekend or longer getting away from the bustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature.

For my birthday this year, I decided to treat myself to a little getaway. It was exactly what I needed. The creek was delightful and was the perfect backdrop. I couldn’t go hiking as there were down trees everywhere (probably from all the storms we had) But I enjoyed every minute of it. I will definitely be back!

A mountain stay in the mist.
I chose a unique time to visit the Bear Creek with the historic amount of rain the region has seen. It was a perfect time to take a jeep to the cabin and go for a hike in the cool drizzle. Roads were muddy and I did need to take an alternate route because access was limited due to a mudslide. 4x4 is highly recommended if not required for a rainy stay in the mountains. The gray sky really accentuated the green foliage surrounding the property and there was a ton of area to explore. Yes, I did see some cool salamanders and banana slugs. The cabin was cozy and well stocked with everything to keep me comfortable in the chilly mountain nights. A warm crackling fire, the tapping of the rain and the rustling of the trees had me sleeping well after a day of exploring.

Incredible weekend year after year
My wife and I had a wonderful time at this cozy cabin surrounded by the redwoods (we’ve visited three times now). We always feel so comfortable and relaxed. Taylor, David and Liv have created and maintain an exceptional spot to unplug and recharge in the beautiful nature of the Santa Cruz mountains. We highly recommend if you are considering visiting. Wonderful escape
We came up here for our anniversary. It was awesome. Very private and serene, we had the patch of woods and creek all to ourselves. Hosts left a nice welcome letter. It's secluded but not difficult to find, their directions are good. Do recommend a vehicle with ground clearance, but a sedan can handle the road if that's what you have. The wood stove does its job well, it gets surprisingly toasty inside. Waking up surrounded by redwood forest on all sides was magical. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

Perfect get-a-way!
Being from the concrete jungle of Las Vegas, Nevada it was a breath of fresh air to be in the great outdoors. Located on a little hillside, overlooking the creek from the back porch, having morning coffee...nothing better! Don't let the pictures fool you, it's much bigger than it looks! My mom and I stayed for a few nights it is Beautiful and very calming and relaxing. Especially enjoyed the back patio overlooking towards the trees and down the creek. Listening to the water at night was also very awesome!! A must go to spot for sure if you need calmness and peacefulness..... Thank You!! Lovely view from the deck and only 30 minutes from our home. We will be back. Two suggestions. The mileages are a bit longer than the directions say. Also the gate combination lock has you put the numbers above the center markings which means that the combination digits should be one lower than what is listed.

I had a lovely time reading and relaxing on the porch and listening to the stream below. The cabin had all the amenities (dishes, appliances etc) for a comfortable stay. It was a warm weekend so I was grateful for the box fan and ceiling fan. There are some lovely hikes 30-45 minutes away for even more nature & seclusion. My Prius could handle the road in OK, as long as I went nice and slow -- I imagine it would have been a different story if the road was muddy though. Thanks for sharing your cozy cabin!

Gorgeous and peaceful setting
I booked this stay as a retreat after months of struggle with a personal loss. It was exactly what I was looking for and I fell in love with the area. I mainly interacted with Tayler, who was very kind. This wasn't important for me because I was looking specifically to be out of contact, but cell/internet access was very spotty. It definitely also helped to have a 4WD vehicle to get to the cabin, I wouldn't try it with a regular passenger car personally. For me, though, an amazing stay, and I'm very grateful.

We had a lovely stay in the cabin, enjoying meals on the deck, the short walk down to the creek where we spotted a banana slug, and proximity to Henry Cowell and Portola during the day. We had rented a Toyota Prius for a drive from San Francisco to San Diego, which was able to make it just fine over the bumpy access road because drove very slowly (as noted in their instructions). When we had a question, the host was very responsive, and got back to us right away. Thank you!

Redwood paradise
The cabin is perched above the beautiful creek. It's really well appointed and cozy. One could sit on the deck and be lulled by the sounds of the water, birds, and trees swaying for days on end. It's close to a few wineries, pano views of the Santa Cruz bay, and ancient forests, but we found it difficult to leave once we got there, hiking up the creek was enchanting enough!

Taylor did an AMAZING job communicating and hosting. I was lost at first but received a quick and accurate response with directions to the cabin. When I got there, the place was so CLEAN and cute! String lights on the patio deck, a hand written note, and everything me and my partner needed. There was even a grill provided! Taylor is super friendly and accommodated my needs even after my stay. Cozy Stay!
This was such an incredible stay for a quick weekend getaway for my boyfriend and I. We both enjoyed the stay so much we did not want to leave. I will say, the drive to the stay was no joke and quite more rough than what it seems to be. If there’s any advice we wish we took it would be to head out before dark! Besides that, everything was clean, cozy, and well maintained!

Amazing location! Such a perfect relaxing vacation we had! Perfect place to spend quality time together and just let the day pass hearing the birds chirp and the creek flow 100% will be back in the wintertime to experience the fire place! Just a heads up that the drive is a little rough and we went in my Honda Civic, it’s definitely doable in a smaller car just make sure to take it very slow we never went over 10 mph and made it just fine with no problems! Peace in the Redwoods
This was one of most memorable vacations. The peacefulness was unlike anywhere we have ever been. Our Hosts were more thoughtful that I would ever have imagined. We never expected to find such a well-equipped kitchen even all the spices. I was amazed that our hosts provided First Aid Supplies under the bathroom sink. More than an ample supply of wood provided for the woodstove that worked perfectly. The large deck is the place to live and enjoy the perfect setting including the stream just down the hill. The last mile on the dirt road to the cabin was painful, but the destination was worth it. The only complaint is the difficulty to take a warm shower. I think if the shower head was replaced so there is more waterflow from the head itself, the water would get hotter. Turning on the hot water in the bathroom sink helped significantly but not enough. Perhaps the on-demand water heater could be set as a higher level, but I didn't attempt that due to the warning sign not to touch it.

An excellent stay under the towering redwood trees! The cabin was cute and well-stocked. My partner and I had a wonderful time cooking, reading, playing cards, and soaking in the nature together. We enjoyed the nearby county park as well as exploring the creek itself! The property is beautiful and a perfect weekend getaway.

A hidden treasure
This is a true getaway from life’s hassles and business. You are whisked away from the world as you travel the windy roads to get to this lovely little cabin. It is a true gem. Although you feel like you are in another world, it’s really not far from Los Gatos or Santa Cruz. We all loved it and would love to come again. One small little note- it is a bit of a windy drive to the place, but the directions are excellent, and you will find it. And then your adventure truly begins!
