Welcome to Harborside Cottage! Harborside Cottage overlooks the working harbor and is within 2.5 miles of 4 restaurants, 2 gas station/convenience stores, the Swan’s Island and Frenchboro Ferry terminal, Island Explorer bus pickup and drop-off, Acadia National Park, Bass Harbor Light House and so much more. Plus, only 17 miles to Bar Harbor! Whether you are visiting for shopping, biking, hiking, kayaking, exploring, sightseeing, the rich history of our island or pure relaxation, Harborside puts you in a great place to access them all. There are numerous places to rent bikes, kayaks and canoes as well as multiple boat excursions and tours to choose from. Acadia National Park covers half the island and is home to many famous attractions. Cadillac is the tallest mountain on the eastern seaboard and a great place to see the sunrise. Thunder Hole is very impressive to visit at high tide, while Sand Beach is a beautiful destination to relax or hike Great Head. Stop by Jordan Pond House for tea and Popovers while overlooking the parks deepest lake at 150 feet, a tradition since 1893\. There are too many destinations in Acadia to list, you will have to explore them all for yourself. This ranch style with a wraparound porch has a walk out basement that is steps from its own working wharf. Inside this home that sleeps 8, you will find a full Kitchen equipped with everything you need no matter what meal, snack or drink you are preparing! The dining room holds an over sized, handmade table, giving way to views of the peaceful harbor. This is a great place to unwind from your day of exploring while witnessing the most spectacular sunsets. Down the hall you will find the first-floor bathroom with shower. The Crow’s Nest den has a flat screen tv and a twin daybed, with matching pop up trundle. These can be used as two twin beds or combined with bridging mattress pad to form a king size bed, for extra sleeping. The den also has its own ½ bath. The mate’s quarters on the first floor overlooks the harbor and has a cozy queen size bed. Downstairs to your left is the living room with a flat screen tv, couches and a double futon, as well as a dry bar with a second coffee maker and mini fridge. Here is where the sliding glass doors open to the backyard and down to your own beach and the tidal wharf. At the back of the living room a full bath and laundry room. To the right of the living room is the Captain’s Quarters with windows looking down to the beach and a firm, but comfy king size bed. Upon your arrival you will find a tour basket with information from our local business’s, menu’s, maps and miscellaneous info about the cottage. The cottage has wifi, smart tv’s with apps and local channels. The last test of our internet speed came back with Download: 219.1 mbps, upload: 9.23mbps and Latency: 60ms. It is far enough away from the tourist “hub-bub”, but close enough to touch everything Acadia Ntl Park and Mt Desert Island have to offer. There are peaceful sunsets, a view of the lobster boats and tide activity, and access to great food. The house is a very comfortable place to land for a week! Have spent many fall seasons at Acadia, but this accommodation was one of the best. The view was unparalleled, and when you’re stuck for a week due to Covid, the view is even more important! Our hosts were very responsive anytime we had a question. We had a power outage while on the island, and before we woke up, we had the necessary items to get us through that power outage. The cottage is outfitted very well, the kitchen has anything and everything you can need. Plenty of bathrooms, beautiful deck, and the surroundings were lovely. Enjoyed all the amenities, especially fire pit and roasting marshmallows in the evenings. Got some of the best sleep in ages - very quiet at night. Stones throw from SW Harbor and all there is to feast on there. Really appreciated being able to easily access Bar Harbor without having to be in the thick of it and related crowds. The location of the house provides beautiful sunsets, early morning fog in the bay, and the ebb and flow of the tide. The home was conveniently located on the quietside of the island with nearby hikes. A trip to Bar Harbor was 30 minutes but the Quietside provides plenty of dining and shopping opportunities. We appreciated the kitchen had some pantry items along with laundry supplies. The owner checked in with us several times during the week. We stayed downstairs in the king-sized bedroom and found the mattress just right, firm support with some cushioning. The kitchen was very well equipped and we cooked dinner most of our 8 nights there. The host was a pleasure to deal with and we loved the giant fresh harvested lobsters delivered to our door by the family lobstermen! The house was very clean and set up very well. The beds were very comfortable. My kids were sad that we didn't spent more time at the house (most of our days were out exploring Acadia National Park), but we really enjoyed having a clean comfortable space to come back to and unwind. Elean has thought of almost every amenity. There was fire starter for the fire pit, buckets for the kids to collect sea/tidepool treasures, a smattering of toys and game in the closet, etc. You won't regret staying at Harborside! ##### Christina G.
