Close to Beech Mountain Resort, Slopeside Beech Mtn - Ski-In/Ski-Out - Beat the Heat - Biking + Mountain Views provides amenities like a firepit and laundry facilities. Skiers and snowboarders can spend time on the slopes at this vacation home featuring ski-in/ski-out access. Guests can connect to free in-room WiFi.
We bought this place because of the location, and it's the reason guests keep coming back. Lift 1 is a 2-minute walk from the door. In winter that means no resort parking, no shuttles, no driving in ski boots. In summer it means 70 degree days when Charlotte, Raleigh, Atlanta and Florida are absolutely sweltering. Either way, you're in the right place.
"Clean, cozy, and a great location. Stayed three years in a row. That says it all." - Paul F., returning guest
WINTER - WALK TO THE SLOPES If you've ever hunted for parking at a ski resort at 8:30am you'll get why this matters. The slopes are a 2-minute walk. Guests tell us they park when they arrive and don't move their cars until they leave. Ski out in the morning, come back for lunch and warm up by the fireplace then, head back out. Kids who are old enough can come and go on their own - several families have told us this was the best part of the trip.
Walk to Lift 1 - no shuttle, no parking fees, no crowds
17 trails, snowtubing, Alpine Village dining and Beech Mountain Brewing Co. all walkable
Gas fireplace inside, outdoor firepit for s'mores and stargazing after dark
80-100 inches of snow annually - 4WD/AWD with snow chains strongly recommended Oct-Apr
"So easy to get to the slopes - literally just carry your skis a few feet down the road and you are right at the lift!!" - Sue A., 2-year returning guest
SUMMER - COOL AIR WHEN EVERYONE ELSE IS MELTING Summers here stay in the low 70s. Evenings are cool enough for a light jacket. We get a lot of families from Florida and the Southeast who come back every year specifically for this - it's a completely different world up here at 5,500 feet.
2-minute walk to the Beech Mountain Resort Summer Concert Series - great regional acts on summer weekends. Not into concerts? You can enjoy the music from the deck with a drink in hand
Lift-assisted mountain biking at the resort - load your bike on the chairlift, ride world-class downhill trails (May-Aug, Thu-Sun)
Emerald Outback Trail System - 7 miles of hiking and biking trails from 4,700 to 5,400 ft, trailhead minutes away
5506 Skybar at the summit - scenic chairlift rides, live music, panoramic Blue Ridge views
Disc golf, pickleball, kayaking and fishing at Buckeye Lake, gem mining, farmers market in town
"Location is perfect - summer concert, mountain biking, lift access. Waking up each morning with 3 deer in our yard was an added and unexpected bonus. We will be back!!!" - William A., summer guest
FALL - THE BEST KEPT SECRET SEASON Beech Mountain gets some of the earliest and most dramatic fall color in NC. Peak is usually the first week of October. The views from the deck are genuinely something. Fewer crowds, shoulder pricing, and the weather is still great well into October.
Mile High Kite Festival on Labor Day Weekend
Land of Oz reopens for special fall events - a Beech Mountain tradition worth checking out
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike to the overlooks, watch the mountain turn gold
Cool evenings around the outdoor fireplace - this is what fall in the mountains is supposed to feel like
THE NIGHT SKY Bring binoculars. At 5,500 feet with almost no light pollution the sky on a clear night is spectacular - the Milky Way, shooting stars, the works. The outdoor firepit, smores, a clear night, and nowhere to be in the morning. That combination is hard to beat.
THE HOUSE "One of the nicest and best-appointed vacation rentals we have ever stayed in. The owners have put a lot of thought and care into it." - John C.
We updated the house in 2022 - new flooring, appliances, and heating throughout. The main level is open concept with a gas fireplace and big windows looking out at the mountain. The kitchen gets mentioned in almost every review - granite countertops, updated appliances, fully stocked with everything you need to cook real meals. Seats 6 at the table and 4 more at the island. Main level has central AC for summer.
The three bedrooms are on the lower level:
Primary suite - queen bed, ensuite bathroom, private deck with mountain views, smart TV
Guest room - queen bed, private ground-level deck, smart TV
Bunk room - two bunk beds (4 twins), smart TV. Kids fight over this room.
Guest room and bunk room share a second full bathroom
Portable fans in all bedrooms - at this elevation nights cool off fast and most guests sleep great
Outside there's a wraparound deck, outdoor firepit, and BBQ grill. Deer wander through most mornings. On summer weekends you can hear the concert from the resort. Multiple spots to catch the sunset and the night sky. The house is stocked the way we'd want it stocked - games, extra blankets, spices, coffee grinder, enough cookware for real dinners. Guests notice the details. One reviewer mentioned finding extra remote batteries in the kitchen junk drawer. That's the idea. Fiber WiFi throughout and a dedicated desk in the primary bedroom if you're working remotely.
LOCATION Two minutes on foot to the ski slopes, mountain bike park, concert series, chairlift rides, and the Alpine Village. That's the location.
Location Note: While the automated map estimate above shows a 15-minute walk, we are actually much closer! You are just a 2-minute walk to Beech Mountain Resort, the slopes, and Ski Lift 1.
5-8 minutes by car: Emerald Outback Trail System, Buckeye Recreation Center (lake, kayaking, tennis, pickleball), Fred's General Mercantile, Flat Top Brewing, Brick Oven Pizzeria
30-45 minutes: Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, Boone, Valle Crucis, Watauga Lake, Blue Ridge Parkway, whitewater rafting on the Watauga River
GOOD TO KNOW Stairs: The entrance is at the rear of the house. From the parking, exterior stairs and landscape steps bring you around the side to the entrance at the back. Inside there's an original spiral staircase between the two levels - it's charming but narrow. Please factor this in if anyone in your group has mobility issues. Not ideal for very young children on the stairs unsupervised.
Winter driving: We get 80-100 inches of snow annually. 4WD or AWD with snow chains is strongly recommended October through April. Prepare properly and it's magical, come unprepared and mountain roads are unforgiving.
Studio apartment: There's a separate studio on the lowest level with its own completely independent entrance. You share only the parking area and the exterior stairs up to the main house.
Cameras: Three outdoor Ring cameras at the entrances for guest safety. No cameras inside.
Holiday check-in/out carries an additional $100 fee. Maximum stay is 21 days.
Guests come back here year after year - some for the skiing, some for the summer cool, some just because it became their family's place. We hope it becomes yours too!
"I don't think we will ever stay anywhere else in Beech Mountain." - Caroline M.

Great location, slope views, kitchen fully equipped, spacious living room. Owners were great communicators and we would definitely stay again. Thanks for a great weekend!
We had such an incredible time in this home. Location is perfect for slopeside activities (summer concert, mountain biking, lift access), and the home is as perfect in person as it is online. The hosts checked in often to ensure we were enjoying our stay, and waking up each morning with 3 deer in our yard was an added and unexpected bonus. We will be back!!!
Great location (short walk to ski lift) and very nice, updated house. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There are a lot of steps to get to the main level (3rd floor) of the house which wasn’t an issue for us but did make it difficult to unload and traverse with ski boots on.
My family and I spent the weekend and had a great time. The house is super clean and well appointed. It is also walking distance to Beech Mountain resort. An outdoor firepit would be a cool addition but no complaints from us thanks for sharing this great place on Beech Mountain!
Really loved staying so close to the slopes. It’s just a few feet from the ski lift. Couldn’t get a better location. No need to visit the crowded lodge for food or drink, the house is more convenient with your own provisions! The place was clean, updated and warm. We will be back.
The home was so welcoming. The fireplace in the living space looking out at the ski resort and snow topped mountains were fantastic. It is a great and easy spot to walk right up to the lifts and start skiing in no time.
The property managers were so friendly and nice. No issues at all. Our kids had a blast and we will definitely be back next year. Maybe even in the summer months for some mountain biking.
We had a group of 7 Adults for a ski weekend. This was by far the best place we have stayed at so far!! Your steps from the quad lift!I love that the bedrooms are all on the lover level. This allowed for early risers to enjoy the living room area without waking anyone up.The living area and kitchen were very large and accommodated everyone! The gas fireplace is a lovely feature. Well stocked with tons of games. The house was very clean upon our arrival and our host answered all questions in a timely manner. We will be back!!
Our family of 8 had a great ski vacation at this beautiful mountain home! The house is beautifully decorated (THAT kitchen!!) and stocked with anything you could possibly need during your stay. We loved using the indoor gas fireplace, the outdoor fire pit, large outside area for kids to play, the living room coffee table full of games and the amazing views of Beech Mountain from the huge windows. But, the close proximity to the slopes was the best advantage for us! And, the roads to the house were pretty easy to get to also. The owners were very helpful and responsive. We can’t wait to stay here again!
What a great location! This house is so close to the slopes that our kids (8, 8, 10, 11) could come and go as they pleased and we felt safe that they could easily come back to the house. We got SNOW a couple of the days and had a blast snowboarding. The house is so full of games that we didnt bring any at all and the kids were so entertained whenever they were home.
The kitchen is super well stocked, which is also huge.
Owner was responsive and helpful for us and we appreciate everything.
We had a great time at this property about a block away to lift 1. The kids could easily come and go on their own so we had a very relaxed and enjoyable family vacation! The bedrooms all had electric wall heating so everyone could control their own climate. The fireplace was so nice to have going while we played games and cooked meals for the family in the main level. This is a well stocked house with everything you need to stay in and make meals…coffee bean grinder, oils and spices, enough silverware for everyone to eat three meals and only run the dishwasher 1x a day:) laundry soap and dishwashing detergent there…extra remote batteries in the kitchen “junk drawer. Extra blankets in the living area for couches and a huge game selection. It was very comfortable and well thought out for our enjoyment. Highly recommend!
Great home right at the base of Beech Mountain. Walk to lifts and base where there’s a brewery with live music and Adirondack chairs and fire pits if you want to bring your own drinks and just hang out. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Especially the beds! The kitchen is beautiful and has everything you need. The only issue is the spiral staircase was a bit difficult to maneuver, especially if you are carrying groceries up. The rooms and entrance are downstairs and the living room and kitchen are upstairs so it is not the best layout. But was fine for us. Wouldn’t recommend for elderly or even small children. Otherwise great place!
We arrived to the home with no heat turned on, as a result the internal temp of home was 10 degrees. The pipes were frozen and we had no running water. With several calls to property owner and request for help they had 20 gallons of water delivered so we were able to flush toilets and wash ourselves. I appreciate their help with that. They also reimbursed our first nights stay. However 10 days after our stay I received an email stating that we broke a window, warped their floor and moved the recliner to cover the warped floor. We did NOT inflict these damages on the home. The floors are uneven, and the vinyl flooring isn’t even connected in some places of the house- we thought nothing of this as it’s a ski rental. I’m sure the upkeep is difficult. I am begin dissatisfied in being charged for damages we did not do. This was a quiet family vacation, we cleaned and took great care of the home during our stay.
wonderfull place to stay! perfect location, great layout with the bedrooms on the bottom floor and the hosts were proactive and accommodating. Highly recommended!
Our family had a great stay and trip at this residence. Home is very clean and just a handful of steps from the slopes and lift. perfect place for a family ski trip. Owners were extremely responsive would highly recommend.
