Accessible only via boats, the island has a long pristine coastline that is very beautiful to explore. The island is part of a wildlife reserve, so no overnight camping is permitted but there is wild camping at nearby Capers Island. You could theoretically camp at Capers Island and kayak to Bulls Island or you could take the Bulls Island Ferry like I did. The price is very reasonable and these guys run an early morning sunrise trip that starts well before dawn and you can make it to the Bulls Island Beach well in time to catch sunrise. I've recently read on their newsletter that they now offer overnight trips to the island as well - there is a house on the middle of the island, which is where you would stay during your overnight trips. Another trip that I'd highly recommend is the ferry trip to the Cape Romaine Lighthouses - there's only 4 in a year offered by the Bulls Island Ferry folks and they tend to sell out. The overnight trips are a little more expensive but the view of the night sky at this location, away from city lights would truly be a sight to behold and I'm looking forward to going on that trip sometime soon. For the avid wildlife folks, this island is supposed to be a paradise during the migratory season. Alligators are plentiful on this island but for the most part, they just laze in the sun and don't bother you. You can walk around and get close to them but please exercise caution if you decide to do so.
