The 78704 zip code puts you in the middle of Austin's most walkable and most distinctly Austin neighborhood — steps from the shops, restaurants, and live music of SoCo, five minutes from Terry Black's Barbecue, and about eight minutes from Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park. Groups who want to spend a weekend actually living Austin rather than shuttling across it book this house.
The second thing that keeps guests coming back is the house itself. This is a 2,700-square-foot custom build with the design sensibility of an Austin boutique hotel — vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, clerestory windows, large-scale original artwork, murals painted directly on the walls, bold color, and the kind of kitchen that actually fits fourteen people around it. The screened-in porch adds an entirely separate social space that works from the first warm afternoon through late spring evenings.
The group layout is well thought out. Bedroom 1 is on its own with an en-suite bathroom, which gives one couple or one family complete privacy. The remaining bedrooms share bathrooms on the upper level. The great room, kitchen, and screened porch form one continuous entertaining zone. The backyard gives the group a fire pit, a hammock, cornhole, and a gas grill under a live oak canopy.

THE MAIN HOUSE
The front door opens into a great room that signals immediately this is not a generic vacation rental. Eighteen-foot vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams run the length of the space. Clerestory windows line the upper walls and pull natural light deep into the room at every hour of the day. The orange sectional sofas, the turquoise coffee table, and the large-scale local artwork — some of it painted directly onto the walls — give the space an energy that feels specific to Austin in a way that most vacation homes simply do not.
The kitchen anchors the back of the great room and is built for a group. Warm wood cabinetry runs the full length of two walls. The professional-grade range with pot filler sits behind a bold red lacquered backsplash. Three bar stools at the island give the kitchen its own social zone while the cooks are working. A dining table seats six, and a secondary dining area accommodates additional guests so nobody is eating in shifts.
The screened-in porch extends the living space outdoors without the heat or the bugs. Cedar-paneled walls, deep sectional seating, a flat-screen TV, and a dedicated bar area make it function as a true second living room. In the warm months it tends to become the default gathering space from mid-afternoon onward. The backyard behind the house runs under a mature live oak canopy with a fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs, a hammock, cornhole, and a gas grill. The upper level of the home has a private deck accessible from the bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 is on the main level with its own en-suite bathroom — a full spa-caliber space with floor-to-ceiling dark mosaic tile, a soaking tub set into the floor, and a multi-head shower. Bedrooms 2, 3, and 4 are on the upper level and share bathrooms. A sleeper sofa in the main living room handles the full 14-guest capacity.
THE OUTDOOR LIVING COMPLEX
The outdoor spaces at this property work together as one continuous zone. The screened-in porch off the main level keeps the group gathered in the shade through warm afternoons and into the evening. The private fenced backyard opens from the porch to a live oak canopy, a fire pit with full Adirondack seating, a hammock, cornhole, and a gas grill. The upper deck off the bedroom level adds a quieter outdoor option for the guests who want to be outside without being in the middle of the action. The whole outdoor setup is private, fenced, and designed for a group.
THE LOCATION
The address puts you in Bouldin Creek, which sits directly between South Congress Avenue and South First Street — Austin's two most character-rich corridors. South Congress is a three-block walk from the front door. The Continental Club, one of Austin's most beloved live music venues, is walkable. Terry Black's Barbecue, one of the most acclaimed BBQ spots in the country, is five minutes by car on Barton Springs Road. Odd Duck on South Lamar is five minutes. Lady Bird Lake and the Hike and Bike Trail are five minutes by car.
Downtown Austin is 5 to 8 minutes by car. Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park are 8 minutes. The brand-new multi-level SoCo HEB at South Congress and Oltorf is 5 minutes by car and is arguably the finest grocery store in the city. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is 15 minutes. Circuit of the Americas is 25 minutes.

This house was perfect for our group of college friends for a long weekend in Austin. The location is great for accessing all different parts of the city and the house is very comfortable and well-appointed with good common spaces (indoor and outdoor) for hanging out and catching up.

Great Location
The house was great and as described. It was perfectly situated within walking distance of South Congress and a quick Uber ride to downtown Austin. 4 couples and 4 bedrooms and everyone was happy. We had a couple of mechanical issues and Walker Luxury Rentals was quick to take care of all.

Great stay and perfect location!
We were celebrating the holidays in Austin with family and the house was amazing. Our family enjoys walking and the home was perfectly located that we didn’t even rent a car. House was a great layout for 5 adults and 2 kids, more than enough space and the house was very clean and very comfortable Also, mostly everything you could need was provided. Pleasant stay in Austin
Quiet neighborhood and very pleasant easy access home. Great to walk to restaurants and shops on Congress. Yes, the management company / VRBO should disclose that the home next door is under construction. However, the construction noise was minimal and workers unobtrusive and respectful.

Beautiful Home
This home was beautiful and there was plenty of space for us to sleep and lounge around. Kitchen was large and well stocked. The property manager was very generous and allowed us early check in and late check out so we had enough time to decorate and clean. There were good instructions for where things were located. When we come back to town, we will try to book this same home.

Just the 10 of us
My husband and I stayed here with five18-20 year olds and three 8 year olds and we had a great time. Our kids brought their friends on this trip:) We walked to the famous Home Slice Pizza on South Congress the first night, enjoyed Barton Springs on the second day, and had a boat party on Lady Bird lake the last night. We had plenty of room for all 10 of us, the big kids stayed up stairs and the littles stayed with my husband and I downstairs. The only thing I would ask is that the trees be trimmed over the driveway and the light switches be labeled. Overall the experience was amazing and we made great memories.

Almost fabulous
With as many people as we had and with various ages, we needed to use the screened in porch every day. It was so dirty that two of us had to sweep, dust and take the cushions out to beat the dirt out of them. There were ants and two people were bit. Otherwise the home was clean inside.

We were there for my daughter's wedding and was good space for those staying there. The lighting was confusing and not all lights were working well. Kitchen could be better appointed. Realizing we were not there to watch TV, the channel selection was poor for how much the house cost. Minor details, overall liked the house.

Thanksgiving Stay
Overall, the house & location were great. The hospitality & responsiveness of the property management company was quick & efficient. We really enjoyed our stay & would rent this property again. The house was very nice but not sure I would call it "luxury". There were a few small details that may need to be addressed. There are many different light switches & it's confusing at first. Would be great if they were labeled. There is really nowhere to put luggage in the bedrooms so it would be nice to have luggage racks in each of them. The furniture cushions in the screened porch area are old & tired. It was not comfortable to sit for any length of time. The sink in the upstairs guest bath isn't big enough to even wash your face in which was strange. The kitchen isn't well stocked if you are cooking a big meal but I'm sure most guests don't do that. It would be nice to have more than 2 barstools for such a big bar area. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and again, the location & the property management team were 5 star.
