I've stayed at this particular Motel 6 for years prior, mainly because of the cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, price, and location to the Disney Resort. We arrived at 9:45pm on a Saturday night and were told that our room wasn't ready because there wasn't enough cleaning staff and that the wait could be 45mins - hour. The front desk employee even acknowledged that check it was 3pm, and that it was almost 7 hours later and the room wasn't ready and that there were other people in front of me waiting. I've never ran into that issue before, even just a few months ago at different hotels. I chalked it up to Covid times, so I had no problem waiting in the car in the parking lot. I had to check in twice with the woman at the front desk over a 2 hour period, and finally, our room was ready at just after midnight. I was originally going to be charged for 4 nights (was only supposed to be 2?), so I wound up catching that and correcting the error. We never had housekeeping, there are no fridges (maybe a covid protocol?), and we weren't given any WiFi info. There were also tiny flies near the bathroom sink and AC, so we wound up wiping everything down with our own Lysol wipes. I totally understand that not everything is back to pre-pandemic status, but the entire super late check-in was a total disaster. I have a feeling they overbooked, or are severely understaffed, because it looked like there were at least a dozen other folks who were having the same issue as me.
