Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Akhali Ubani?
The best area to stay in Akhali Ubani is generally within the central part of the village, particularly near the main road that runs through it.

This central area offers the most convenient access to the village's amenities. You'll find local shops selling essentials and traditional Georgian goods, as well as a few family-run guesthouses. The main road is easy to navigate, and properties here often provide views of the surrounding hills and vineyards.

For couples seeking a quiet retreat, staying in a guesthouse within the central area is ideal. Many guesthouses offer a personal touch, with hosts often preparing homemade Georgian meals and providing insights into local culture. It's a lovely way to experience the village's relaxed pace and enjoy the scenery.

Families will also find the central area suitable, as it keeps them close to any facilities the village offers. The open spaces around properties in Akhali Ubani mean children can often play freely, and the calm environment is conducive to a relaxing family holiday.
When is the best time to go to Akhali Ubani?
The best time to visit Akhali Ubani is during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to early October) when the weather is most pleasant.

During these months, you'll experience comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C, making it ideal for exploring the region's natural beauty and historical sites. The landscapes are particularly lush in spring, with wildflowers in bloom, while autumn brings stunning foliage and the grape harvest season, offering a chance to experience local wine-making traditions. These periods also generally see less rainfall than the summer months, ensuring more consistent good weather for outdoor activities.

For those looking to enjoy hiking and outdoor adventures, late spring offers cooler mornings superb for longer treks through the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, which is easily accessible from Akhali Ubani. The trails are well-marked, and the scenery is spectacular.

Couples seeking a relaxing getaway will appreciate the tranquil atmosphere of early autumn. The mild weather is superb for leisurely walks through vineyards and visiting local monasteries without the larger crowds often found in peak summer.
