“Fine Fairmont Service”

The hotel dates to the old days of railroad and is very close to the station. It has, however, been well renovated and has nice rooms. Service in the restaurant was friendly and competent and the front desk went out of their way to be courteous and helpful. A spot on the rug knocked the room ratingit down a bit and I always am annoyed by high end hotels that charge additional for Internet access. Never-the--less I would stay there again.

“Amazing Staff”

Stayed here for 2 nights in June for a conference. The area is dead on the weekend so if you want a more "happening place" don't stay in this area. The hotel staff were amazing!!! Can't say enough about how friendly and helpful they were. Room was very nice, clean, comfortable.

“Fairmonts are great”

This is a great place to stay after two weeks in the Great White North eating nothing but pickerel and pine bark. The staff is very friendly and more importantly, happy. We stay here because they have great restaurants in the hotel and neighborhood and they allow dogs.

Downtown Winnipeg is a great place to stay. It is proximate to shopping, museums, the capitol, and dining.

“Awesome Fairmont stay before the Train to Toronto!”

I arrived a bit early .... around noon ...... and the room was not ready sadly.... but the great thing is the hotel is located right downtown.. near a subway restaurant.... starbucks.. tim hortons... whatever you would like!!!!! It is also right next to the stairs leading to the tunnels and passage ways around down town winnipeg which is great! I also love how the hotel is very spacious in the lobby.... the elevators were fast,safe and efficient... and the room was amazing... I really enjoyed my stay and always enjoy my stay.. It is a a short walk to the train station and also to the university downtown so it makes it easy as well.. Furthermore if you are into taking the city bus you can take the 15 bus from the airport to the hotel... (get off around the corner from it...but once you see the hotel just pull the bell) or if you want to go to Polo park to shop... just hop on the bus on portage and get right there in like 10 mins! This place is a great place to stay when you want to get away of the scary parts of winnipeg as well. This is why I enjoyed my stay as well.

Area recommendations

I would recommend staying in the vicinity of the hotel and walk towards the Forks.... stay away from Portage it is dangerous... in some areas and looks a bit sketchy..... I know I would just watch out for certain areas just to be on the safe side.... In the spring and summer it would be a beautiful place to stay and walk around... this end of winter is not the place to go.... but if you can tough the cold and the windiest intersection in Canada.... this hotel is the place to go...

“In the Grain trade? stay here!”

Close to all Grain orgs in Wpg,walking distance some good restaurants in the same area, you dont need a car or taxi most of the time

“Fairmont Winnipeg”

Was a good experience. Treated incredibly well. The water was turned off in the evening but wasn't an issue at all. Would stay there again.

“Never again - a big disappointment”

Run down, decrepit - my room (410) smelled strongly of mold and the window didn't open. The sink was brown and badly cracked. This room was in serious need of an update. Felt sick on the way back home.

“Delivered the experience expected of a Fairmont hotel”

Very comfortable bed, stylish bathroom, room service dinner was excellent ...three course meal with a beer was about $50. Room was next to elevator shafts and could sometimes hear them but only a minor distraction.
