“Great Hotel for a Reasonable Price”
Great "Old Fashioned" style hotel with plenty of charm to spare. With a modest price point, it is in a great location in the middle of the Gaslamp district in San Diego, CA. You are a short walking distance to many bars, restaurants, and shops. There was a hidden bar down stairs that has a great esthetic and character to it as well. The rooftop access provides amazing views of San Diego especially on the clear day that I was there. I was so pleased that I stumbled upon this hotel!
“fun place”
great value, center of gaslamp, walk to anywhere. it's old, but very charming.
“Where You Want To Be”
We wanted a hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter that was historic but also comfortable and up to date. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. We loved the views from our room and on the roof while eating breakfast. From both we could see the bay and the ocean. It was so nice to have a mini suite where we could relax on the couch or in a comfortable chair while reading or watching tv. The desk was great for our laptop. We did leave our windows open all night and could hear some music or a someone playing a trumpet as we drifted into sleep. It just added to the flavor of the quarter and we loved it. We'll definately be back.
“Great stay”
I was attending a conference at the convention center. This hotel is within walking distance. Please do ask for a higher floor room, it is quieter up there. The breakfast is served on the rooftop anyway. A shopping mall is very close, also the city tram system.
“Gas Lamp Stay”
Great location, great people, great view for breakfast.
“Perfect weekend, perfect location, perfect for what we need”
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't be happier with our experience. The staff were extremely polite, courteous and willing and ready to help with whatever we needed. The rooftop view was phenomenal. The room was comfortable and cozy. The hotel character was just what we were looking for without knowing what we were going to get. I left our 2 souvenir bags there and called a few times and they had them and we should get them this week. Perfect location and we plan to make this our hotel every time we come into San Diego. Thank you for a great experience.
“Great hotel with beautiful rooms”
Great hotel with beautiful rooms at a great location. Our suite had a very comfortable sitting area with a large sofa, coffee table and sofa chairs, and a mini-kitchen area with a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine, cups and utencils. The bathroom was large with a lot of counter space, although the water flow was somewhat slow. The suite made us feel very much at home. There were four big windows overlooking the Gaslamp district. The view was beautiful. The hotel is conveniently located near the Trolly station and bus stops for going pretty much anywhere including the airport. The reception area was somewhat empy, but the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was simple, but reasonably healthy. I am happy to recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Service Cannot Be Beat!”
If you have read the reviews, you know what to expect. This is a fantastic hotel in an older building. You are downtown! It is not a quiet country inn. There are people on the street, sirens, and a bar with live music accross the street that is open late. Other reviews mention a nightclub downstairs but it is now an upscale (read:expensive) fondue restaurant. Monday thru Thursday was fine noise-wise. Friday kicked up a notch or two. Ask for a room up high and in the back if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise, have fun watching all of this going on and enjoy the great views of the city and bay. The rooms are large and clean and the service cannot be beat.
“Great central location”
As a base to explore San Diego for a reasonable cost this hotel is hard to beat. Situated in the heart of the Gas Lamp Quarter all the best restaurants and busiest bars are on your doorstep. San Diego is the type of city you can explore in a couple of days and this hotel is ideal to do that. We stopped off en route to Las Vegas from Los Angeles for 3 days and two nights and found the relaxed style of San Diego a pleasant change to the smog and bustle of LA.
“Very nice hotel and lovely staff!”
Stayed at Gaslamp for 3 nights. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk was very helpful and answered all of our questions. Overall, each staff member was pleasant and made sure we were enjoying our stay. Breakfast was standard- nothing special but it was good enough..bagels/toast/cereal. Only negative was the parking charge- but the hotel room itself was big and clean. Perfect hotel for the price- will def stay there again.
