“very friendly people”

Loved staying there. Breakfast was great our drivers thank you Fernando, George and Alex you made it very special and easy for us being there for the first time...you made our visit to see my son graduation to the marines easy for us and let us know if we needed anything just to call....Thank you all for all that you did for me and my family can't wait to go back this time for a vacation...

“We will stay here again!”

Our experience at the hotel was amazing! The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean, The shuttle service was prompt. The breakfast buffet was yummy. We plan on staying here again next time we our in town and will recommend the hotel to our family and friends.

“Brand New Hotel very young and contemporary”

Great stay, enjoyed the Hot Tub and they have a 24hr snack area so you can get something to eat anytime. My parents walked around the neighborhood and saw the old town which they enjoyed.

“Stayed there 3 times and will return.”

I have been to this hotel 3x in the past 2 years when I came to San Diego for conferences. It is very convenient especially when arriving late at night as it is so close to the airport. The onramp to the I 5 is so convenient and it is away from the touristy Old Town activities. The front desk staff is very friendly, helpful and accomodating. I felt very comfortable at this hotel despite traveling alone and being female. The breakfast spread was just right and truly appreciated when I had to get up early to leave for my conference. I will be back. I did try to get a fellow conference attendee to change her hotel to this one but when she plugged in "Holiday inn express old town" it came up as mission inn. someone should get that updated.

“Can't go back to that smell.”

The breakfast was better than expected. Parking was great. Location okay. Price was reasonable. But, there was a horrible dirty smell in the hallways and in our room (on the bottom floor) that just made me sick to my stomach. I couldn't wait to check out of there. Too bad, because otherwise I would have been satisfied.

This hotel had friendly staff, good breakfast in the morning, and convenient shuttle service to the airport, convention center, seaworld, and San Diego Zoo.

Area recommendations

Old town San Diego is less than nine blocks away from this Holiday Inn Express. It's a nice neighborhood with plenty of shopping and restaurants.

“Customer service was great during the regional power outage”

We checked in shortly after the start of the regional power outage. We were very impressed with how friendly and efficient the hotel staff was. They even handed out ice cream sandwiches and provided some of the breakfast food that evening. The staff couldn't have been better, especially during a challenging time. The location is close to Old Town which is awesome! We love Cafe Coyote. The hotel is also conveniently close to the freeway. Our room did face the freeway and was a little noisy. They have double windows which does help reduce the noise. We slept very well in spite of everything.
