“Relaxed like never before”

From the time we arrived to the time we left Barcelo made us feel as if we were the customer. They know the meaning of customer first. We only stayed 4 nights but what a way to end the vacation. Shortly after we checked in they called to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. When we did have questions or concerns they were quick to resolve them. You have to keep in mind this is not in Puerto Vallarta proper so you need to plan your trips into town. Generally the hotel had anything you could need or want so it really was not that bad. We would love to return next year.

“We will go back!”

Everything was perfect. This was was our 30th anniversary. Last time we were there is was La Jolla de Mismaloya, as Barcelo we are totally impressed. The food was great (LosArcos has the best surf & turf and shrimp cocktail). Also during the day at the snack bar you must try their ham tacos YUMMY. The best was very comfortable, our maid Rico was the best. She kept our room spotless. The grounds were beautiful, the pools were clean. Most bartenders knew how to make a margarita (some not so great). We were there for 10 days relaxing, just what we went for. We hope everyone has the experience we did.

“Great place to stay”

Great place to stay for couples, seniors and families. The most comfortable beds and pillows we have ever slept with at a resort. Clean, & good food, GREAT entertainment. The grounds and set up are beautiful. Two cons: 1 would be the internet - althought they say you can get Wi-Fi in your room... that is intermitant at best.... usually not! Had to go to the lobby to get the internet with any consitency. And even there Wi-Fi was slower than we were used to in Canada. 2nd con.... cannot see the sunset from this resort in late November. If it weren`t for these two cons, would go back again!

“i would recomend for the price”

Great big rooms,nice setting.Beach is kind a small but cozy.Checking out was really lousy.They charge you about $40 US for being just half hour late.So,be there at 12 or pay the price

“They Try Harder!”

“The best getaway in PV!”

We had yet another great vacation at Barcelo Puerto Vallarta. Many of the hotel staff remembered us from our last trip. That's what makes this hotel/resort one of the best, the staff! They are very friendly and will do what it takes to make sure you have a great time. This was the first time that we weren't as impressed with the a la carte restaurants as we have in the past. But, the buffet was really great! I can't wait for our trip next year. We are definitely coming back!!

Must see

Go on the tequila tours! I do not like tequila. I mean, I really don't like tequila. The two places the hotel tours in Mismaloya are great. It's like a wine tour, they teach you how they make tequila and then you have a tasting. I ended up buying 3 bottles!

Dining

Make sure to take a trip into the village of Mismaloya and visit Tony's Restaurant. It is awesome!!! The hotel will make reservations for your group. It is on the top floor of the family house! REALLY, REALLY great food!

“Superb vacation”

The location was secluded, which I enjoyed. The accomodations were beautiful and the service was excellent. I loved everything about the hotel. The only down side was the beach water was not all that clean. Everything else, incredible.

“Barcelo PV is great”

Hotel, staff, and food is excellent. We have stayed there 5 times and will continue to return. Only bad news we have is on theft from a friends room. Keep your valuables in the room safe - it only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole barrel!

Area recommendations

Visit the main town of Puerto Vallarta. Sayulita is a beautiful laid back surfing town that can be reached by a 1.5 hr drive from Mismaloya. Rental car costs $75 for the day.

Outdoors or beach

If you like horseback riding or hiking, there is a local cowboy named Pedro Lopez who sits across the street from the hotel, near the bus stop, campaigning for business. Pedro's English is amazing, and he is an excellent guide as well as an interesting philosopher. His prices are good, his horses are well cared for and respond to the reins. The ride to El Eden, the site of the Predator movie, is very pretty and reaonably rugged, yet beginners can handle it. There are some good hikes in the area, unknown to us gringos. To get to Yalapa, you can take the bus to Boca Tomatlan, then water taxi to Yalapa, or take boat directly from Barcelo beach, which is little more expensive. Half day for 6 people cost us 1400 pesos.
