“Perfect base location to explore Mexico City”
Building is very beautiful and it is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Mexico City. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The check in process was surprisingly fast. We got a room facing Reforma ave, but it was very quiet. The room was very spacious, my only complain is that the bed was very hard, but since we were outside all day long we had no trouble sleeping. The only quaint thing about the hotel is that the decor is a bit outdated (the hall where our floor was located and our room) but that's not a problem. The room was cleaned deeply (I accidentally spilled some flour on the carpet and everything was gone the next day) and the bathroom was spotless. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone on an budget but still wanting a nice place to crash
“Most beautifull place i have ever ben”

“I wil repeat everytime I go to Mexico city. I loved it!”

“So Great- Heading Back in 2-Weeks”
Wonderful. Would recomend to any tourist or business traveler. Staff was 100 % 0n service and english. They even helped with many translations. The Silver gift shop presented beautiful designs and was owned by a great Silver artist(Isaac). The experience was 100% great and we have decided to go back in 2-weeks for 2 months this time and stay with our new found Mexican Hotel Imperial. Location is perfect and also easy connect to all busses and underground Metro. See youall down there soon. David/Nancy
“Very good hotel at a very good price”
The location of the hotel is excellent, a few blocks from the center (Zocalo, Palacio de Bellas Artes), right in Paseo de la Reforma and close to everything including the metro. The hotel staff is very kind. The rooms are very spacious and even it has a business center (if you do not want to take your laptop with you, as was my case) that for a few pesos you have unlimited time. The breakfast at a small cost per person is very good. The price we got from Expedia was excellent (50% below the desk rate). The hotel is one block from the Fiesta Americana and just one block away from the hop on bus.
“Impressive!”
This hotel was a great bargain! The hotel has history and a great location. Staff was friendly and the food there was delicious. The taxi had no problem finding it since its right across the monument to Columbus. The room was big and the bathroom was clean and up to date. I stayed there for three nights as a solo traveler and not once did I have a bad vibe of the neighborhood at night. It is right on the Paseo de la Reforma where police officers keep watch on the corners till about 11pm. There is a convinience store right next to the hotel which is always great. Most of the major sights are a good 20 minute walk if not a 5 minute taxi ride. If there is something negative then I will say that the tv looked outdated but it worked and had cable. From what I was told from a tour guide is that the hotel was built in 1862 and once was the US embassy! I would go back to this hotel.
“classic and classy”
old style luxury. book me again.
“Amazing value”
The hotel is old, but very charming and quite beautiful. The service was professional and friendly. We were surprised by the bustling restaurant and the free valet parking for guests. The room was enormous, and clean. The "king" bed was actually two twins pushed together, which was not a particularly comfortable arrangement (but one that is quite common in Europe, for example). For the price, I don't think I've ever stayed in as well appointed a place. They even provided conditioner, and free wireless internet (and a decent business center too). Overall, wonderful for the budget price.
“Charming Historic Hotel in Great Location”
I'll admit, I chose this hotel for two reasons: the price and the location. But after experiencing it, I'd choose it all over again, but this time adding to my list: the friendly staff, the great food, and the quaint historic building. When you arrive at the hotel, the nicest--but not overly friendly in that annoying way--doormen greet you and take your luggage up a beautiful marble staircase. (There are elevators though, for the handicapped). Look up, because there is a gorgeous chandelier above! The wrap-around balconies were decorated with greenery, and the entire lobby was very tastefully decorated for the Christmas holidays. In an area overpopulated with ritzy and culturally unspecific hotels, this one brought to mind the glory days of historic colonial Mexico. The hotel staff speak great English, but are willing to work with your Spanish at any level. Two things to know before you go: 1) Ask the staff to call you a taxi with a meter, because otherwise, the ones that wait outside the hotel will most likely rip you off; and 2) be forewarned that local calls from the hotel are not free, so make sure you ask prices first, and that they're in your budget. Either way, I would definitely recommend this hotel. The location is great and within walking distance to many places of interest. The staff is very helpful and provide great maps of the area. They also will arrange tours for you if interested. And to boot, this hotel had the best coffee that I had anywhere in Mexico City.
“Impressive Historic Hotel with Great Location on a Budget”
My wife and two kids stayed seven days and six nights for a family vacation. I definitely recommend this hotel. The hotel is a hidden treasure for an affordable price. There are nice lobbies and a beautiful center skylight. They have a buffet breakfast for a per person charge, plus a very fancy restaurant for lunch or dinner. The rooms have a small safe, which was great for valuables. I saw wireless Internet, but we did not have a computer. The rooms were cleaned very well and the concierges were very helpful... there is a travel agency next door that helped us book affordable day trips. In addition, we took the "Turibus", a double-decker bus, that stopped a half block away. The beds were a little hard, but okay. Not everything is new condition, but it works and is comfortable. There was street noise on weekdays, however, you could turn on the fan to cover up the noise. The location is great on Paseo de La Reforma! In 10-15 minutes, you could walk east to the Historic Center (Zocalo) or west to the Angel Monument, Pink Zone, and embassies. We walked around at different hours and never felt threatened... we are from Chicago, so we know to be streetwise. We took the Metro (subway) and buses, which are very cheap and run almost every minute! Mexico City is the center of Mexico and has so many beautiful sites and people. This hotel has great character and history and adds well to your experience... everyone knows this famous hotel by name. Thank you Mexico... we'll be back!
