Everything about the hotel was great. The room, the view, the room service and all of the staff were friendly and professional. The Spa/ pool was a different experience all together. It is not part of the hotel but you are privy to a pass if you stay in the hotel. Kids can only use the pool from 9-11 AM. When we arrived, the reception staff practically recoiled at the sight of our two children (both of whom are competent swimmers). I was given the impression that they were tolerated but only just. One of the staff tried to tell us that we could only use the pool with the children at the weekend but the other conceded when we questioned this that they could go within the alotted time all week. When we made it to the pool, despite the surroundings being lovely, we were left disappointed. Despite it being the "family fun' time, we were only allowed access to one lane in the pool which was busy with other parents and their toddlers. there was therefore no opportunity for our kids aged 9 and 7 to really enjoy themselves. We just had to splash about in a corner for a bit before we left. Not great. We didn't go back. Other than that, the hotel staff were great with the kids, the location was good, loads of transport links within easy reach and plenty of shops and eateries nearby. We felt perfectly safe in the surrounding area at night and the area was also spotlessly clean. Great stay but forget the pool if you have kids. The spa staff are up tight and the clientele somewhat aloof.
