A long sandy beach runs along the Pacific Ocean in this city known as one of the more peaceful areas near Santa Monica Bay.

Visit Torrance and shop in the historic downtown area. Enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, including beach volleyball, cycling and surfing. This coastal city also has a museum of fine art and a historical society. Enjoy Japanese, Mexican and Italian cuisine in many excellent restaurants in the city’s centre.

Shop for handmade jewellery, vintage items, antiques and crafts in a flea market in Downtown Torrance. Try fishing, surfing, scuba diving and swimming at Torrance Beach, a quieter alternative to Santa Monica Bay’s other beach areas.

Tour the Western Museum of Flight and learn about Southern California’s aviation heritage through aircraft displays. Torrance’s California Museum of Fine Arts gives educational workshops and lectures by renowned artists in Los Angeles County. This beach city also has a number of other art galleries and museums, including the Chen Art Gallery and the Toyota USA Automobile Museum.

At Charles H. Wilson Park, enjoy outdoor activities, such as tennis, basketball and volleyball. Relax in an outdoor amphitheatre and admire the park’s pond. The park also includes designated areas for barbecuing and picnicking. Check the official website for information on the Torrance Certified Farmers Market, held in Wilson Park on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Take a short drive to popular Manhattan Beach and soak up the energetic atmosphere. Book a range of charters from Marina Del Ray near Venice Beach, including sport fishing and whale-watching charters. Rent a bicycle and ride north along the coast from Torrance to Venice Beach.

The city is located about 10 miles (16 kilometres) from Los Angeles International Airport. With its proximity to Santa Monica Bay’s busier beaches and its cultural and historical attractions, Torrance is a great place to stay when visiting California.

Torrance is perfect for visitors looking for a quieter beach atmosphere, with a wide range of cultural and outdoor activities.
